Unfortunate event badly BROKEN WINDSHEILD


          :'(  Unfortunately we now have a broken left windshield. My mistake. Broken left side, but will do both. Right side starting to haze in corners badly and afraid tint wouldn't match. Which Place is the best to purchase from? Will have to be installed at my location, to badly broken to drive. 1994 U280 Thanks for the help Mark C.

Try Safelite,they seem to know whats going on.

Safelite would not even talk to me about my windshield in Tulsa.

I would call FOT to get a price and talk about shipping for installation. They can tell you if the pieces needed for your age coach are VERY proprietary, or if another supplier will do. They are NOT all the same!  Foretravel owned the molds for our '93 U225, and we wound up having a replacement shipped to Tennessee RV for install because I would not accept the generic replacement from some warehouse in Elkhart. My insurance company talked to FOT and eventually agreed.  I wanted to do the job once and not have to have it redone after cracking because of a bad fit!

Also I would replace the rubber seal.
Less chance of water leaks or air noise on the road.

We found that Foretravel's glass price was competitive with all the other suppliers and they had the glass in stock for a 1990 U280.  We got three bids for insurance and Foretravel was less for installation than anyone else.  Same experience with our 96' U320.

I agree, ESPECIALLY for the older units with the curved windshield. We found that it worked out better for us to drive from SE Penna to Nac for service on our '93 than to try and educate some mechanic at home when we needed service. Tennessee RV is certainly closer to your location, but they are a well known Foretravel repair shop.

We had both of our windshields replaced at FOT in April of this year.  They did a fantastic job.  I was told that the other manufactures glass don't fit the same and may break when leveling.  We chose to use the authentic Foretravel glass.  My insurance company wanted to use the Guardian glass but I refused.  I told them I wanted it done at the factory and they agreed.

Earlier this year we suffered a broken windshield and the insurance company used Duncan. It took a while, but we eventually got it done. Unfortunately, driving to Nac wasn't an option. The plan was to replace the gasket, but Duncan sent the wrong gasket and the two guys that did the work (in 90* heat and 90% humidity) said there wasn't anything wrong with the original gasket - it had just shifted a bit.

 ^.^d Thanks for everyone's input, we have a plan now. Have new gasket coming and Guardian glass ordered. would love to take to Nac, but left side to badly broken to drive. Can't be seen though. Have a local glass shop owner helping out. I used to work on his motorcycle, he's lending us a hand. Great guy.
