Under sink water filter system change

We are considering changing out our old Everpure system for another.  Has anyone done any research or found a decent replacement that will fit under the sink?  A local source would be convenient (Lowe's, HD, etc.).

Any water filter can be a replacement and all can fit under sink.  Main criteria should be cost of cartridges that do your desired filtering that fit a specific housing.  And there is one housing that accepts standard size filters.  Everpure are available and over the years have not gone out of business (now owned by Shurflo) and their claims cover quite a few things, but they are not cheap.  It is difficult to find reasonable priced water filters that protect with a wide range in a single cartridge.

From what I've read, the new filters might leak in the older mounts.  We went by Camping World yesterday and saw that a new set up would be $130.  We probably should have gotten it, but will try the old one with a new filter.  Our coach came with the diverter (for winterizing), so we didn't know what filter to get.  We took the old mount to the store to match it up.
We are putting in a new U-Line icemaker today, so that led to the issue of water lines and filter.  My inclination is to  get all new stuff related to  anything we ingest.

I replaced the Everpure filter system with a Home Depot, under sink system.
The Everpure filter cost $40 and was a quarter of the size of a standard household carbon filter which costs $10 at Home Depot.
I did have to use plumbing adaptors (from Home Depot) to connect the new filter system.

We've had Everpure since 2000 and never have had any chlorine taste or leaks.

I camped at a few too many campgrounds with turbid water and my Everpure filter got clogged up of course. I ordered the correct filter cartridge and replaced it only to find that it leaked. I seem to remember changing an O ring or some kind of gasket, having it still leak, getting really angry and never using the thing again. I had stopped using my ice machine by that time. I have since replaced the filtered water dispenser with a sprayer and have no way to even use the filter anymore... so basically this thread reminded me to remove the useless thing from under my sink and lose a pound or so of weight :) ...I got a SteriPen ultraviolet water purifier that doesn't remove the chlorine, or the bacteria for that matter, it just sterilizes the bacteria with ultraviolet light so they can't reproduce. It has no effect on water taste. I've also used chlorine tablets, iodine tablets, filters, and boiling... but the ultraviolet light works great so that's what I use.

I replaced our Everpure cartridge with a new one when we put in the Samsung Fridge/Icemaker this summer. Clear and clean water and ice. Since I treated the system, using their plan, I follow their "manual" and do a little shot of bleach (my term) when I add a half tank of water. There is zero taste of chlorine and we strip test regularly.

Prior to the replacement and treatment, this accessory had no value or functionality.

Ice good. Sick bad.
