Traveling this Election week.

Does any one, besides us, have any concerns traveling on the interstate this week during the election?
We drive on I-75 south and always stay in commercial parks, not Walmart parking lots.  Driving hours are between 10a to 5p.

Thought of some good comebacks but no,we will be home as wife is election judge.(will be a long day).

Dick and Sue,

  Have a family member that is in threat assessment. There have been some threats made
but they were thought to be for three states. Virginia, Texas and another I can't remember right
now. I think from what was said on television that they were concerned about areas with high
concentrations of people. There is also some concern about after the election if a certain can-
didate wins there might be some problems. I think if I were traveling that I might stay over the
day after the election one more night, if I were in a place that I felt secure in. Who knows? We
have never seen an election season like this one before.

Go somewhere nice, enjoy the view, go for a walk, enjoy each other, turn off the TV and all,of the electronic devices.  At that point whatever is going to happen is going to happen.

Susan and I were full timing in 1980. We were at a campground on Lake Mead near Las Vegas on the night of the elections. We had no fancy electronics, no TV, no cell phone.  I took a long piece of wire and wrapped a bare end around the AM radio antenna on our camper and tossed the other end into a tree.  We listened to the returns and the news that Ronald Reagan had won, all on WCCO, a clear channel AM station from Minneapolis.

Thanks for the advice guys.
We feel very safe staying home, with the bus in our driveway. We live on an island with only 2 swing bridges that are under 24 hour surveillance.
Our first reservation is Nov 15, in Florida. We have options with our departure date and we always plan on 5 days to get there.

We both worked the election polls 2012 and that wasn't fun even then.

Just be careful you don't get caught in the mass exodus of people leaving the U.S. after the election!! >:D  >:D

The only travel precautions we have taken is to carry our passports in certain states.  Once in awhile when very uncomfortable in an area I will wear my Vietnam Nam/Desert Storm hat and it seems to ease the tension of ethnicity we have encountered.  We still enjoy the back roads and the basic dignity of our nation.

Lots of folks went North in the 60's. Many stayed.  If you feel the urge to exit where you are you are welcome in Hastings, of course you will want to be leaving for somewhere warmer in another month or two.  Come what may we are staying put.

Be careful that this thread not wander toward anything political.

We requested a mail in ballot from Florida so we wouldn't have to rush home or deal with the voting lines.

It is what it is.  I just pray that God will see us through these next 4 years.

Have full fuel/water/propane/pantry and don't be caught without a clear road away from wherever you are...

If there is going to be an issue it will most likely be in high density metro areas and be shut down before your tanks are empty.

If the outcome matches the polls there is also the chance that some isolated "2nd amendment solution type folks" step out of socially accepted norms but that possibility exists outside of any election bias. The best thing is to always be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to change them! It might not hurt to go to bed with all services unhooked, camp packed up, awnings in, etc.

Thanks to all who responded to our question.
We always travel with full tank of fuel, water and pantry and always travel defensively. To many years sailing on the Great Lakes have taught us to be prepared.
Our 2 cities of concern are Cincinnati and Atlanta. We will use the East 275 bypass for Cinni this time and always use the West 285 bypass for Atl.
