Heater Hose Failure

Been thinking about installing valves on the heater hose inlet and outlet in case of hose failure, has anyone had a hose failure from the engine foreward to the heater register?

Most susceptible section of the heater hose is that in the engine room-- heat, petroleum products, exposure to the elements.......

The least susceptible is in the basement area.

Unless really unusual failure, use a metal barb to barb fitting and replace the engine room section.  Installing a ball valve at the junction is not a bad idea.
