12 volt slide air pump

l think that the pump is fixing to take a powder.
didn't realize that the pump was running continuously when stored.. bad pop off valve on wet tank combined with a non operational check valve on front tank.. had run to the point that it stopped due to heat or whatever...
Gave it a good series of raps with a screw driver handle and it started up but runs slowly . & both settling bowls are leaking air on the drains, also the brass fitting (pop off or pressure relief?) is leaking where the dissicant bowl is....
Any idea on what a replacement motor & compressor will run $$ wise if I have to replace the whole sheebang?

Hard to diagnose from afar.  There is a rebuild kit available.  Might be able to find if you Search.  I believe a new pump is several CBs.  Perhaps some one will chime in with the particulars.

Ouch!

opened the drain petcock at the hwh air tank,, no joy. but opened the drain on the 1st settling bowl and pump sped up with  some air pressure..... and the brass fitting on the bottom of the desiccant bowl (it has a wire going to it) is leaking big time out it's vent... might it be an in line check valve stuck closed?  ... gotta do more studying

If you buy it from FT it will be a bunch of $. They are availabe elsewhere for much less.  Maybe 1/2.  Shop wisely.

My 2001 kit is smaller than when yours.  Complete rebuild kit from zoro is $126.

Thanks, It seems that I have more than one issue to deal with ... pump seems to work (slowly) but no air to the tank...

That small round thing with two wires going to it is an air solenoid that should activate when the aux comp pump stops.  I believe the solenoid is normally open.  When we purchased our coach it had only one wire going to it and there was a pit cock valve in line that was used to drain any moisture in the bowl.  That is what the solenoid does - activates every time the pump stops to vacate any accumulated water in that clear bowl.  Later I did some investigating here and found that there should be two wires attached.  A friend, Bill B. helped me disassemble and solder the wire back and has been working every cycle since that second wire was reattached. 

Do not know the reason why your aux is running "slow".  Also do not understand why it might run faster If the solenoid is not functioning - air coming out all of the time.  You can get a replacement solenoid from FT parts.
