Just replaced mine last week. During my search I found the OEM 35' hose at $175 plus. So, FT was bargain at $135.
Here is what I did. Purchased a 40 foot hose from this guy RV Water Filter Store. Cut it to 35 feet (cuz I didn't think 40 would fit on reel). I cut the 1/2 inch NPT fitting off the old hose. I took the hose and fitting to a guy who makes hose. Look for "hydraulic" in the name. I googled water hose , garden hose etc. All I got was big box stores.

Some one suggested in another post that we asked the Water Store guy to put NPT fitting on the hose. I did, he said he couldn't do it. His reasons were not quite clear to me so I just got the hose with one 3/4 brass female fitting and I used the old 1/2 SS fitting for the male end. I had to remove the reel to access the hose connections.

I didn't ask for a price but the guy I brought the fitting to could have made the entire hose for me. Maybe check locally first.  Oh yeah, 35' of hose with one brass 3/4" female fitting cost $75 shipped.

Take your old hose off and take it to a hose shop in Houston (lots near the "Ship Channel").  They can put together whatever you need or put you in that direction without going very far.

I don't remember all the details now, but I had to replace the water hose in my Foretravel. I needed a 35 foot 1/2" hose and couldn't find one at a reasonable price; mostly 25' or 50'. Wound up buying a 50' NeverKink type potable hose.

Took it with the ends from my old hose to the hydraulic hose guy. He cut the 15' off and put a standard hose connector on the cut end. He did not have the exact connector I needed for the hose reel. He removed the one from the old hose and swaged it into place. I do not remember how much he charged, but am sure it was less than $20; probably closer to $10.

Been about two years now, and no problems. And I've got a 15 footer to boot.

I had better luck at the RV Filter Store. They made up a hose for me for my spring reel. High quality hose and nice brass fittings. I'd give them a call (Dave). Photo is the original fitting.

How about a good RV $18, 50' 1/2" white drinking water hose from Amazon:
Amazon.com: Camco 22753 TastePURE Drinking Water Hose (1/2"ID x 50') - Lead... Wind it up and measure how much does not fit on reel.  Unwind, cut off the extra length from the female end.  Buy a hose barb from Lowe's etc that fits hose ID & reel plumbing.  Use some sort of hose clamp to make the hose barb water tight.
When hose fails again, you have the plan and easy way to replace.
Stick an inexpensive water alarm under reel to let you know when it decides to leak again.

This is exactly what we did to replace our water hose several years ago.  Still working great.
