A/C Housing Holes

I have the doghouse pulled out in order to get better access to the audit box and to clean up the area (Foretravel was in there and they often don't do a good job of cleaning up after work). Anyhow, two questions:

Red Arrow: This large hole is covered with tape. Is this correct?
Green Arrows: Are these small holes on the top of the unit supposed to be covered. The ones closest to the windshield have been sealed with something but the others are open.

I covered every seam and hole on my AC unit with a HVAC mastic.  Worked much better after.  Also added an air filter to the interior air intake that is pictured by simply duct taping it in place.

The larger hole is covered on mine with a piece of sheet metal and two screws, the smaller ones are open. I tried removing my dog house but gave up. My top lifts up but how did you get the vertical angled front off?

A previous owner has  done some work on this. The bracket on top of the box has been added. its not there originally. the holes were originally filled with a caulk of some sort.  The taped hole originally had a plastic cap closing it off. I recently removed this entire assembly and reworked it.  I had a bad heater core leak to repair. not a fun job but I have dash heat now.

Thanks, guys. I'll re-tape the big one (had to peer down there) and also cover the others.

Not sure I understand. Anyhow, there are four screws holding the unit to the floor, one on the right side vertical and mine had only one on the left side vertical although it originally had four. Here's a couple of photos. Hope this helps.

Jor that helps alot. My wood frame is painted black making it very hard to see the screws. Thank you.

Your right, the older I get it is much harder to see

those little suckers, but I dug out the old stud finder

and it can see better than I can.
