Wheel Cut Question 2000 non-IFS

I searched Forum, guess missed it.  Sorry if repeat. 

What is the wheel cut on my 40 ft 2001 non tag, non IFS?

At pourtravel last evening, 2012 Tuscany owner told me and Cobb...if i heard it right...that he has a 60 degree cut.  Watching him leave this morning, he can really turn sharply.  So, what angle do I have on our 2001?  Just curious.... Wish a lttle sharper.

Mike,

I do not know the specific number, but a question:  Have you had the cut angles SET?

Procedure:
The axle stops on the steering knuckles are adjusted so that at max cut angle the tires do not contact body or suspension components (like drag link, air bag supports, etc).  Then, the small external screws on the Sheppard M100 steering box are adjusted so that there is an air gap (I use 1/4" to play it safe) between the stop and axle.  It is my understanding that some later model Sheppard boxes "automatically" make this adjustment-- I am not familiar with that. Keith Reich should be able to tell you which type is on your coach.

I know on our U240, I was able to gain almost 10 degrees of cut angle by checking and setting this.  Said another way, the factory setting was WAY too conservative.

I am pretty sure I heard somewhere that my 99 U270 has a 38 degree wheel cut. I don't know if the model you have is similar.

The Sheppard M100 steering box with the automatic adjustment has "AUTO" in the case. On my 1996 U320, it is hard to see with the steering box installed because the "AUTO" is on the back side.

Nearly all older beam front axles are 38 degrees. Wiki website says 38 degrees as well.

My dim memory of selling and presenting the first unihomes were that they had a 55 degree front axle cut.

Putting together various things I have heard and seen posted here I think that Foretravel moved the steering box and its column outboard in 97.  For sure the original unihomes had 55 degree. 

And driving my 97 the 38 degree seems about right..

I used to point out the side cut.  Sold many coaches with that feature as a help.

Everything mounted more inboard and  a steering column with universal joints in it allowed the extreme cut.

But had definite steering wander isdues. 

Somewhere along the line multiple changes occurred it seems

It is 38 degrees Mike.  I wished it was sharper at times but like the ride and the simplicity so I had no issues with it. Yes the IFS are insane in comparison.
