M&G Car Braking Systems

Any opinions on a DIY installation of a M&G Car Braking System in a jeep wrangler.  I have researched this on the internet but not convinced as to a DIY job.

Having seen the install, I would say the average do it yourself would not be a candidate for this. It entails altering the brake system and I would not be comfortable telling anyone to do it themselves. The next question would be if M&G would even sell the product for someone to do themselves.

M&G will sell to anyone , bought one for our Tahoe and installed it with no problems, they do recommend to have a dealer to the install.

I have done it in 2 jeeps, not a problem. The instructions are clear, and tech support is good, give them a call they will walk you through it.

Quick question for those of you with the M&G system...

Does it engage if you activate the retarder only, or does it activate only when the primary brake pedal is depressed?

Went to the M&G website and you can't order from them.  You have to go with the approved dealers.  What is the price of the system and the break away add-on.

I put Air Force one in as the M & G wanted me to cut the firewall.  Both work well but just check how it is installed before you buy.

Why don't I see the Brake Buddy ever mentioned? I have the select model and have switched it between 5 cars now, no modifications required. Is there something I don't know that is negative about it?

We installed our M&G ourselves, but it was on vehicle that had lots of room under the hood, forward of the brake master cylinder.  It was several cars back a few years ago, but if the brake lines have enough room to allow the master cylinder to be moved, then the M&G mounts on brake boost and the brake master cylinder re-mounts on the M&G.  The extension rod has to be adjusted so the pedal & boost pushes against the M&G which pushes against the master cylinder, with just a small amount of slack.  If the steel brake lines have to be relocated, longer ones must be used and the brakes bleed.  Some of the newer cars have a crowded hood and there is something in front of the master cylinder, preventing it from be moved enough to fit the M&G.

I ran a Brake Buddy, and also a Roadmaster even brake. I wasn't that satisfied with a gas coach. Wasn't that consistent in braking. Foretravel, not so bad. You still have to hardware (install) the breakaway, or you loose one of the most important features of any toad braking system.
I switched to a Invisa brake, Love it. I unhooked the brake light feature from the retarder, because it constantly was applying the Jeep brakes. Hated that feature anyway, because it always kicked the cruise off with the slightest burp in the road. I personally wouldn't want to be following me with all that brake light action.
