Washer/dryer

My U320 (2001) appears to have fittings inside the lower linen closet for a washer dryer??
Was it removed by the PO or were they all made with the fittings installed??
Or, how easy is it to fit a washer dryer??

Can't help with original installation question but can attest to the weight 120lb .replaced ours last year and getting in through front door was a real test

Likely all plumbed from factory. Our splendide gets plenty of use. Will wash 2X the amount it will dry per load. More a FYI than complaint

Had Splendide' in my last 3 Foretravel's. Wouldn't leave the dealership without one. Hate lugging quarters and laundry around the campground and even more washing after someone else's dirt. At FOT I had no problem but at Boondocks State Park, I was always leary. Sure they do small loads and permapress needs to come out and hang dry but pluses win, hands down.
Yes, Foretravel's usually come pre-plumbed.

We wouldn't be without one. We do carry quarters incase we need to wash sheets and towels on a long trip. We also use the dryer for damp post shower towels.

Pulled our combo machine which worked just fine and put separate units in. As we are full time just couldn't imagine being without them.

It came from the factory plumbed for the W/D. Love ours.
Didn't modify the door, so I had to cut the rear wall out in a few places to get it to clear the door when closed

Having had a 36 2002 without W/D. We did the quarter thing - it was fine - we didn't miss what we didn't know. With a Splendide in our 42, the DW said that it's nice. Does a load every day when we are plugged in, and have been hitting a laundromat after out for a number of days.

If we had one in our 36 we would have used it. Many times during laundry duty my DW and I would chat with folks there passing by. There can be worse things in life than reading a good book and chatting with nice folks.

Splendide makes a stacked washer dryer. Wash and dry at the same time. Do more in less time. This would be my choice if we were willing to give up the closet space (not).

Those would be our choice, too, if there is space. They are the Ariston models. You would need to have the dryer vent redone if you go with the separate/stacked units, but it could be worth it.

Otherwise, the Splendide 2100XC is a great unit. Don't go with a non-vented (condensing) model if you don't have to.

When I put our Ariston dryer in I didn't need to relocate the vent. The HD has a nice flat sliding dyer pipe that fits perfectly.

I pulled mine from my 2000 U320 this weekend. I have too much laundry to do on a weekly basis for that thing to work for me. The space is more valuable. I am in San Bernardino, CA if you are interested.

This gets into different a strokes-- thing . Previous coaches came with the compact combo unit that did as advertised . DW did a load nearly daily , which was fine then . Present unit has stacked Splendide which DW likes more "betterly" . While on the road she gets it done as well so when we get to play area , she can go shopping and save more money . At the rate she saves , we must be getting rich .

When our original Splendid died on us, Karen thought she would try the quarter routine for a while. That didn't last long and we had a new Splendid 2100XC installed- use it all the time. Being full time- do a load a day or every other day and all is good. Karen does our sheets too in ours, so a good investment. The first one lasted about 14 years, so since we are planning another 10 years on the road full time, maybe we will be lucky and this one will last us.

I did find out about the cleaning procedure in the manual and do it a couple of times per year.

Brad- we won't get the separate units, don't think I can save that much money..........

Eileen loves her set up, as fulltimers we tried the quarter thing and didn't work for us.

We pulled the Splendid unit ( brought it in the house for emergency duty on occasion) and replaced with separate Bosch units. (Washer and electric dryer). Its nice having the ability to do much larger loads like blankets.
Wouldn't be without.

Lon, Are the Bosch 220v? We have them at home and they are great but they are 220v.

Yes it is 220v.
If I were to do it over I might have gone with LP gas if available, but the 220v works great on shore power 50amp hook up.
I don't have it set to work with the generator.
