ABS Brake Warning Light - Sensor Location Help

Caught out in the road during a heavy rainstorm today - after we got through it, I hit a really nice 2 or 3 inch deep roadlake going 50mph or so on the highway.  Shortly thereafter, the ABS Brake light came on - I assume it was related.  Did not lose retarder.  Did not go off after restarting the engine.

A rest area stop and some forum searches suggested this was likely not a big problem, and could probably be solved by pulling out and replacing the sensors.  But having never seen or done anything with an ABS system, I have no idea what the connection looks like, or where I should be looking.  Can anyone drop me a few breadcrumbs?

Thanks!

Think I had a friend tell me that he drove thru heavy rain and the splash knocked the sensor wire off.  Maybe it was something else, and know that without a photo to show you where that is I am not much help.  But it may help allay fear it something major......surely a photo or direction will appear in the morning, and all will be ok.

There was though a very strange thing....friend of mine had ABS light flash, temp of transmission climb and turned out to be another problem, not failing sensor.  You not having that are you?  Rain just sounds like what a friend of mine had happen to him and same era coach.....I will send him email, .

James,

Here is a couple of post that show pics. and some part numbers read through these for some more info.  There isn't a pic. of where the sensors plug in to the system.  The best way I can describe the location where your sensors are plugged into the system is, on your coach you should look for your fast acting/modulating valve that is mounted just above your drive shaft.  It is the only thing that has air lines and wires connected to it in that area.

The water may have just dislodged the sensor from its proper location. you may be able to reach the sensor with a long screwdriver and push it back up next to the commutator  ring.

I have had that happen usuaaloy on my tag and all you have to do is reseat the sensor. If it pulled out a bit. I once had it hanging by the wire so I stop and check them  quickly after the light comes on.

Easy to locate-- they have a wire pigtail coming from the inboard side of the brakes.  Remove, clean, use a dry lube and reinstall. I have not researched each type, but on the ones I have worked on, they are installed with zero clearance to the tone ring.  VERIY correct clearance for your model of brakes.

Excessive clearance and/or dirt on the sensor can cause the ABS light to illuminate.

The ABS system does not affect brake operation except were you to experience a lock-up condition.
