HWH Control Box

After reading Scott's post this morning and the tremendous and quick response from the members of the forum I wanted to know more about what happened. As I understand if the slide pins do not engage or become out of position this will cause the transmission to not engage or re-engage correct?
Mr. Frerichs stated to look for a switch on the HWH Control Box in the passenger side main bay.  I think I found the switch he was talking about. (please see pic...is this it?)  So again, if I understand what members in the know are saying.  Once this switch is flipped from 110 to 220 the transmission is in lock out override and if the switch is left in the 220 position and I am unlucky enough to have a slide pin problem such as Scott had this morning, the transmission will continue to work and shift without issue correct?
Lastly, there are two HWH boxes in the bay, is one for the front system and one for the rear?  I have attached pictures of the two boxes and you can clearly see a line of vertical led lights on the left side of the HWH box which is marked HWHfront.  Are these the LED's which will indicate a slide pin problem if they were red or where to look for LED's which indicate the slide is functioning ok?

Hi Dave,
From your pictures, yes you have found the HWH control box/es.  And yes the LED's are for diagnosing problems with the slide. If  you have more slides I am not sure if you also have more 110/220 switches on the additional control boxes. If you do, then their setting may need to be changed as well.

Yes.  PM with your personal email and I will send you a pdf of the HWH manual explaining all the lights.  My coach is 5939 so it should be real close to what you have.  I do not have two slides.

I do not know if I had a slide pin or a sensor malfunction.  The Sensor caused the trans to NOT go into gear.  Once the HWH switch was pressed to Retract, the light went off and I was able to shift into gear.  I have not taken the time yet to trouble shoot my issue.

Many feel that I probably have a Locking Pin Sensor that is acting up.  Many with the 2001 slide/s seem to have experienced this situation.  Since this coach is still new to us I was unaware of the potential issue and have place this issue at the top of our list.

I have a 2000, not a 2001. Before I got too carried away - I would wait for a few cycles of the slide and see if it re occurs. - Mine did as yours once - recycled - hasn't happened since. Messing with the slide before you have a solid problem might not solve anything but drain your wallet.

Tim and Scott... just so I understand when you say you have recycled the slide does that mean that you went through the open close process or does going through the recycle process require a specific process different from opening and closing side?

Actually - I deflated the slide bladder using the key on the control panel by the driver then pressed the Retract button - slide was already in - while pressing the retract button I heard the mechanical stuff that moves the slide pins.  I could not extend the slide as I was parked on an apron and traffic was flowing by the driver's side.  Otherwise I would have cycled the slide out and then back in again.

I had this problem and learned that I was not retracting long enough for the pins to engage..drove me nuts and John Fitz came and helped me...then I learned to hold the retract button until you could here the pins engage...no more issues.

Scott, I put a gauge in the first bay to watch the pressures. I think they need to be above 2500-2700 somewhere. It happened to me twice in ten years and the first time I called Mot and they had my cycle the slide.  It happened to me after a rough section of road and three days on the road.  One thing is to keep pressing the retract button till the light goes off and you hear a pewee.

Thought I was holding the retract button until the light went off and the pump stopped.  Will pay more attention in the future. 

The dash alarm light and the beeping happened two times on this trip - 350+/- miles.  Both times after a rough patch of road.  We were about ten miles away from our destination after the second event.  I pulled out my hearing aids and made it to the CG and parked. 

John - I'll take a close look in that front driver's side bay to eyeball the gauges.
