AH engine coolant supply/return question

We have a 1998 U-320 with an Aqua Hot 431/12.

Question about the Aqua Hot engine coolant supply and return lines.

Ran the coach down the road for 30 minutes.  After stopping I crawled into the bay to check something and noticed the Aqua Hot engine supply and return coolant lines and copper pipes were very hot.  The Aqua Hot system was turned off: not running on diesel, not running on electricity, engine heater turned off.

Is this normal?  I've never paid attention to it before.

When the main engine is running, does coolant always flow through the Aqua Hot system and help provide heat to the system to heat water?

Thank you,
Chris

Your engine keeps the water hot while traveling.  You turn everything off and you will still have hot water.  You have hot water 3 ways, electric, aqua hot or engine.

John,

Thank you for explaining.

I managed to get in touch Aqua Hot tech support just before they closed for the weekend and they shared that this is normal and is what they call the "engine assist" function.

This setup is still new to me and it was a bit of a surprise.  But at least I know the system is operating as it should!

Works both ways with the engine heat panel switch on.  Aqua hot heats the motor that way.  Severe winter stuff.

Plus you coach has ether start

Yup, working as designed and an awesome feature  ^.^d  !  We never had to run the AquaHot if we had driven the day before.

And it puts enough heat to keep the coach warn if you are driving in the winter  from just engine heat till you stop and turn on the boiler.
