Genset Blower Motor Question

We have a Powertech/Kubota genset on our 1995 U295.  The remote blower motor kicks on and off in a mode that seems to be time dependent rather than temperature dependent, which results in engine overheat shutdown.  The blower isn't even running when the engine shuts down.  The blower effectively cools the radiator when it is running.

Have any of you bypassed - or wired around - a sensor so that the blower runs constantly whenever the genset is operating?

Larry

Check the start Capasitor on top of the
electric Motor, disassemble and replace with a new one. Motor should start when
the Genset starts up

Ours had a loose connection to the fan breaker inside the control box.

The engine shuts down because the blower motor isn't running and it is over heating.

None of my coaches had a sensor, when generator was running, blower was running. Water temp was controlled by thermostat.

Motor may have a thermal overload switch, that when the windings get too hot it shuts off, check for bad bearings or clogged cooling vents on the motor

I had a problem with low coolant, it caused a no blower event. Once coolant leak was repaired, and topped up blower functioned properly ...

Check the little switch on the front of the control box, maybe by pass it. Hit mine to the off position once, it stopped running do to overheating.

The capacitor isn't on the motor-it's mounted to the back of the blower housing.  See my post on motor replacement.  If it starts sometimes, I'd concentrate on the fan breaker first.  They've been known to get weaker with time.  Replace in kind or with a slow blow fuse.

When mine went bad, after replacing everything else I ended up replacing the blower motor with a new cage.

Mine also runs 100% of the time the generator is running.

Thanks to all who gave suggestions.  The problem turned out to be that the shop who installed our new blower motor wired it incorrectly.  I talked to James, at FT, and he said that the blower motor should NEVER run intermittently.  He sent me an electronic copy of the wiring diagram for the motor and capacitor.  It effects all models.  If anyone should happen to need a copy of, PM me and I'll send it.  Keep in mind that we don't have email while traveling, but we will be home for a few weeks yet.
