Transmission cooler arrived

The Rocor unit arrived this morning.  Dimensions checked our and I was glad to see that it also included the mounting hardware (just sorry that I spent a lot of time refinishing the old ones).

Sven, any chance please of removing one of the plastic plugs and taking a close picture of the build inside? I would like to see if it is made up of a number of tubes inside or just one straight thru pipe surrounded by the exterior one with those fittings. One picture looking thru the centre pipe and one thru one of those shown coming 90 deg.
Thanks

Thanks all,  just an ordinary shell and tube heat exchanger. Might be able to get one from Bell & gosset or taco for half the price, but than again changing hose connection points and adapters may well eat up any savings. Code 37 units appear to be rebuildable and have a floating replaceable tube bundle that may be less likely to be damaged by thermal shock.

Same principal as a heat exchanger/tube bundle used in gas plants and refineries.

Thanks Sven. I was thinking that if I had to replace mine I would make it but seeing the cooling tubing (as expected) inside then could not. Brother Geoffs company makes very large editions of these cooling units so he knows all about it but his are around 50-100 ft long and weigh hundreds of tons. All specialty chemical etc equipt sent around the world.      Project Gallery | Axton

I know this post is 4 months old, but wondering what the cost was for the cooler?

I believe I paid around $1500 ($2400 quote from FT).  I attached a photo of the label for Maverick.

Here is the contact info. at Racor.  Cindi Montgomery is who I talked to.  She was very friendly.  I always ask if there is a military/firefighter/"old people" discount.  In this case, she laughed and knocked off $100.  Good luck.

I wonder if asking for an under 35, self employed, self paying health insurance, no pension or 401k matching, make quarterly tax payments or go to jail, non-affirmative action eligible discount would work?  LOL  ;)

Just checking, a fellow in Houston told me that it was 3-1259a. One letter for nonretard and the other a or b for retarder.

In the next 12 to 24 months I need to do new ELC coolant for the Cummins and new Transcend for the Allison. Seems like I should get an new trans cooler/heat exchanger at the same time and do all three at once.  (2003 U320, 100,124 miles).
