For you all that are down in the "Deep Desert", a book worth reading is by the ethobiologist, Gary Paul Nabhan. It's called "The Desert Smells Like Rain", and pays homage to our natives, the Papago / Tohono O'odham and their experiences with "Leroy" and "Jethro". ^.^d

Leslie & I were in Organ Pipe on Sunday, without our coach. Saw 2 beautiful GV's, but I couldn't remember whose they were. We stopped by but no one was around. Sorry we missed you.
We had a great time at Q, meeting everyone around the campfire. Next year I'm bringing a roll of name tags. ^.^d

That would have been us. Kent & Peggy Speers and Ken & Dori Hathaway. We were out driving the Puerto Blanco Drive. Kent's neighbor said someone came by looking at the coaches. Sorry we didn't get to meet up.

Great idea. Maybe some people will come up with a photo or a sketch
for a Foretravel Q logo. Maybe find a t-shirt shop that would make them
with our names on the front and back. CRS is a terrible, incurable thing
to have, so I need all the help with names I can get. Then we could order
our own before we go next year?

Sorry I missed all the fun at Quartzsite this year, first Winter I have not headed South (Mex. or Az.) in 16 yrs.!! Spending the Winter home in the PNW is not that bad after all. We do say it rains all the time that still doesn't keep the population down. :)) View from home looking over Hood Canal and the Olympics Mts. Keeping busy parking out some private acreage 15 min. from home. Has been a rental for the past 11 years with an older mobile home which I'm going to demo and just have hookups for Rv's until I decide to build or not.

That's our ex-neck of the woods, we're from Poulsbo, is that  pic down south towards Tacoma? I had a employee from the flats, and riding to work one day, he said, "This is the only job I've ever had where going to work is like being on vacation."  ^.^d

My story this winter is similar, this would have been the 12th year going south, but wife has health issues, so not going south this year.
My 96 U320 is build 4943, so was still on the assembly line when yours was being built.
I live in Victoria on the east side of Mount Douglas.
We plan to take the Coho on the way south in mid October.
If you ever travel to Vancouver Island, I would love to meet you.

Doug, thought that was Hansville. Before moving to Texas, we lived in Seabeck and I  grew up in Gig Harbor. I miss my mountains, but I don't miss the cold and damp weather.  It is a  great state and as a native Washingtonian, I miss it alot. But 75 degrees in January does help a bit.

Susie and I are at Palm Springs ( 3-6-17 ) and just wondering if there is still a " Lemon Gathering " at Quartsite. We are headed to Yuma area. We expect to be around for 2 or 3 weeks.
We saw way more MHs heading north while we were driving south thru the Golden state so perhaps the "fun" is over for the Quartsite thing.  My mother who came down here for 10+ years said that folks head out as the weather warms because the animals (snakes) start coming out.

It's our first time down to Arizona with the GV so we would love to hook up with some like minded Foretravel owners.

Just overnighted at the entrance there on our way to FMCA.  Did not go all the way back to the site because it was all but empty.  Most of the seasonal vendors are gone as well.  Did see one FT at an intersection that was a 97 270.  Same color and style graphics as ours but passed in the twilight.

:o  Been working in the desert for 3 decades...  Rattlesnakes are a part of the environment.  When it is hot, they like to hang out in shady spots, like around the tires and under your vehicle.  If you keep your eyes open, and don't go reaching into dark places without looking first, then they're not a problem.  They just want to be left alone to do their thing - not unlike us humans.

Chuck is correct they are harmless really and we have them at home as it gets hot and same climate etc as Arizona. They sit on the driveways and get run over as they love the hot asphalt etc.

Unless they are very young, it's difficult to provoke them enough to strike. I've had tall boots on and put my foot up to their nose and they always just took off.

Sure wish Q was in March or April with warmer weather, longer days. Vernal equinox would be about perfect with the sun higher in the sky. Getting to Q can be difficult for members living in areas with a hard winter. Water in Mexico is too cold to swim until later and we've had a lot of cool days in Puerto Peñasco after leaving Q. RV shows are non stop in Sacramento and Reno so not a factor for us. We just enjoy the company of Foreforum members in the desert. I can see how members like John, who winter south of the border love stopping in Q on the way south in late January. Not trying to put Canada on the list. :D

Just my thought.

Last year I stopped at the Lemon Rally site in late March early April no one was in the area as I am certain that no one is there now. We are in Yuma currently as I am waiting to have some dental work done, Scott and Carol are in the Foothills in Yuma. So if you head out this way there may still be some FoFums around Yuma when you get here. But there is the 2018 Lemon rally coming up in January.

That was us, G&S. John and Judy (aka jor). Good eye IDing the 97 270. I saw someone gesticulating wildly but wasn't sure if you were waving at us or the guy at the light. Anyhow, two ships passing in the night. Have a great evening.
