Power to tv antenna

I have a newer looking Jack antenna on top of the coach. I am not able to get a signal and did some research on the Internet and found that I need to have power to the antenna. At trace the wires inside the coach and they going to a wire duct and I have no idea where they go.  It looks like the wires were possibly put in when the coach was built. Is it a long shot to guess that maybe the power switch to the antenna would be in the same spot on all coaches. Or does anybody have a suggestion on how I can find it.  The coach is a 2000 U320    Thanks

My antenna booster switch is inside the center front cabinet against the left vertical wall. Has a green light indicating power and feeds power up to the Jack.

There is a small red light on the jack antenna head that is lit when it has power. Also have you gone into the menu setting on TV You need to scan for channels before you will be able to see anything. I have to scan each new area for over the air channels.

Yes I scanned the tv but it doesn't pick up any channels. I'm in a SP near some towns so I know that there are channels near. Also didn't work for me at home in the driveway near Houston where I know that there are channels. I'll have to wait till dark to see if the light is on.how does this lite get power? The power wire goes into a box at the base, the only wire going to the actual antenna is the cable coax  This is our first trip in our new coach and I am using it to try to learn it.

You need to go on top and check you connections going into the antenna and going into the roof.  Mine were corroded.  Clean or replace connector and put dielectric grease in the connectors.  You can also purchase the King SureLock or the Winegard Sensor Pro To help you locate the best signal location.  I use the SureLock and it works fast and great.

Since digital channels are directional antenna sensitive you can download a free app such as "TV Antenna Helper Free"  This will give you coordinates and number of channels that are available.  Help you with pointing your antenna in the right direction,  then scan for channels.

Doesn't look like the light is on. I will have to wait till I get home and have a electric tester. I cannot find any sure lock or anything associated. I was hoping it might be factory genetic. Buying a used anything and having to figure it out is SO frustrating to me! The power wire goes into that box at the bottom of the mount how would the power get to the antenna light?

Tonight, look up at your antenna and see if the light is on.  You will be able to see it from the ground.  Also you connections on the roof don't look promising.  Can you send a better picture of that connection.  Also that antenna points with the flat part.  On the roof pull the boot of and remove the cable and check for corrosion.  You can use the SureLock on that antenna.

The box in the  overhead cabinet has a built in amplifier. If your antenna  runs through this amp and through the Jack amp [if you have one], you will have a problem. The Jack amp will be in line and be attached to a power cord.Try taking the jack amp out of the circuit or take the foretravel amp out. If it is just a replacement jack head, there is no light or amplifier and the foretravel amp will work fine. The box at the base of the antenna is a antenna up alarm light on your dash and has nothing to do the signal.

On mine 91 I have a junction box which is under my bedroom closet floor. I am not sure on the newer coaches. but the coax all goes to this box. Cable In Antenna In VCR In TV1 out TV2 Out. I have a switch to select Antenna or Cable . But as long as my switch is on my light on antenna is also on. The 12 volts travels through the coax connection to the antenna. Maybe popout theswitch in he cabinet and see if you can tell where the coax goes or where the switch wires go. I'd think there should be another junction box somewhere.

You will have to remove the back panels in the fwd cabinet by the rocker switch and trace the antenna cable.

Here You go I think, Look at the wall switch diagram and test procedure. I know the antenna on the roof is not like this But the Wingman was what was on it originally. What you have is a digital antenna replacement head.

Howdy hdff,
As others have noted, check and see if antenna red LED is on.  It's very hard to see, except in the dark.  If not on, I think you'll find bad/poor coax connections.  The power for the antenna "rides" (injected) on the coax.

As we travel I use this site to help me point the antenna.  Address

We love our Jack antenna, and think its one of the best (and least expensive) upgrade.

Just incase you weren't aware of the buttons in the upper compartment that switch from ant, sat and cable. It has to be on ant.

On both our 95 and 99 the little amp was, as Stump indicated, beneath the closet floor. If yours is like our 95 it would be the rear half of the closet. When I put in the Jack antenna, I replaced it with the Jack power source. You'll probably figure it out quickly once you are home. Good luck.

Another question Is the TV Digital signal ready? If it is the original one it might not be setup for a digital signal without a convertor box. Maybe previous owner tried changing antenna thinking that would pull in the digital signals but TV is not capable of it? Just a thought.

On MINE, it was the short cable from the roof up the arm to the antenna. You might try replacing that FIRST with a test cable. It's the easiest.

I found that the metal pass through plate on my roof was corroded and would not sent current through it.  I found this out when I ran a new cord directly from the Jack head to the amp- everything worked fine ( Twigs idea above).  I then had to decide how to deal with the pass through connection plate- can be replaced ( possible big hole in roof, maybe leaks) or I can directly run the new cable through the roof.  I chose option #2, bored  a hole in the roof. passed the new coax through it, tested all connections, etc, then sealed the hole on the roof with Dicor.  I have eliminated a connection that could go bad and it has been working fine ever since.

Best of luck with this                ^.^d
