New charger/converter & poop

My battery issues were the result of having a charger/converter that was only putting out 10 volts. After replacing it, both the batteries and I are much happier.

I'm 2 cb in and I'm running out of things to fix. Yay!

Yep. Furnaces are running. Refrigerator operating on lp... waiting on a part for the water heater.

Both furnaces needed 120 psi compressed air delivered via a wand to blow the soot and cobwebs out. One of them needed a new circuit board. Refrigerator still needs a little help... but it stays lit longer.

The water leak is a drip at pressure at the inlet.. I haven't dealt with it yet. I have changed out the hydraulic belt and fixed the tensioner offset.

It's nice. Maggie and I parked farther away from the drug dealer this time. I'm getting more comfortable driving. My mini is set up for tow and passed the first trip perfectly. No smoke! Next hurdle will be dumping the tanks. I really hope it goes well!

Next hurdle will be dumping the tanks. I really hope it goes well!

If I doesn't you will be baptized into rv religion anyhow. Anchor the business end into the appropriate recepticale and give a tug on the glory valve. Stuff flows out at an amazing rate and the flexible hose may experience what is known as hydraulic jump.

Feel free to video just in case the hydraulic jumping goes full on acrobatic.

When finished. Unkook motorhome end and lift it as you walk to the dump end do that fluid still in the hose goes down the pipe instead of all over you.

It is surely obvious, but the order of dumping is crucial! :o  Dump the black first, then the grey so that the grey water rinses the dump hose. If I were you, I would be all over the fresh water leak at the water inlet. As small as it seems, if it has been doing that for long, it may have gotten into the bulkhead joint area. I believe that is what necessitated my bulkhead joint saga.

After seeing someone else get "baptized" I've changed my dump routine a bit. After hooking up the sewer hose I let a little GREY water out first. If all is good I close that valve and open the black water valve.

Paul, there is a check valve behind the white panel that can leak. Changing it is much easier than actually getting to it, since you have to take much of the white panel apart. Good time to inspect and fix anything that is hidden.

Since this thread has gone off the rails...

If you don't already have a 3rd dump valve, might consider fitting one.  Search "third dump valve" on this Forum for ideas.

Here is ours:

The fact that Foretravel used 3" waste piping on the grey tanks as well as the black makes the third valve flushing option a no brainer. Most SOB's, even so called high line coaches that I have seen use inch and a half on the grey, which makes the flushing of the black tank with grey water much less effective. Since I had our coaches tanks out (whereupon I thoroughly cleaned the waste tanks out with bleach and hot water & plus pressure), I have adhered to the practice of lushing the black tank with the grey water every time I dump. It uses zero potable water and the tanks runs clear by the second or third iteration. The process: Open third valve (which incidentally acts as a back up to potentially leaking black or grey valves), open the black dump valve. When the black slows to a trickle, open the grey and let a rush of grey water through the dump hose. As soon as the grey water reaches full flow, close the third valve and let the grey water flow into the black tank until near equalization. Then close the grey valve and open the third valve (the black tank valve remains open until the last flush) to let the grey flushing water out of the black tank. If I am dumping the grey from close to 100%, I repeat the process 3 or 4 times, finally closing the black tank valve on the last flush with an indicated 10 to 20% flush water still in the black. This insures that there is some relatively clean water in the black tank before adding solids, which helps keep the blank tank from getting a build up. Finally after the last flush, let the grey tank dump all the way and then close the grey and then the third valve and stow the hose. This is a very quick, easy and clean, no-touch-the-nasty stuff process with the camlock Wastemaster hose system.

I've used this "third dump valve system: for over 10 years and could not be more happy (unless I plumbed this in as you suggest, definitely a future project).  For over 10 years I've used a product that was called the Flush King, This product is now sold by Valterra.  Two products sold now for those who do not want to hard plumb this 3rd valve are the  Valterra F02-4350 Reverse RV Flush Valve Flush King and the Camco 39062 Dual Flush Pro Holding Tank Rinser with Gate Valve.  Plumbing in makes it much easier but does not give you the option of an outside water source should your grey tank not be full.  Years ago, in the Northwest there was a franchisee that would steam clean your black tank and take pictures thru the dump valve.  After a couple years of using the product "HAPPY CAMPERS Organic RV Holding Tank Treatment" and the Flush King he told me to save my $$$ and not use his service as my tanks were spotless at the start of his most recent service.  He guaranteed your sensors to work after his service as most failures were due to build up inside the tank.  Now I use the Flush King valve with your system to flush the black tank, even taking more showers to fill the grey tank, as it is also faster than using the separate fill hose on the Flush King and I smell and feel better.  Thank you for all previous posts, this helps us every time we dump our black tank.  With a short clear fitting, I see how clean the black tank is.

Now that I think about it... a new hose and fittings sound pretty important. I got a 90 that screws into the ground. Apparently those are required in state and federal parks. How long a tube is wise? I've already bought a second water hose that is twice as long as the first.

I have direct injection garden hose fittings on the black and grey tanks. From the look of the hoses, it's a custom upgrade; pieces of old garden hoses.

That is a terrible idea. I'll say maybe. I figure I'm a week away from the virgin dumping.
