Toilet Pedestal

I've got one of those raised toilets, the kind that sits up on a pedestal. I plan on doing a floor job on this thing sometime and I was wondering if anyone had ever eliminated the plywood pedestal and installed a regular size toilet. I haven't really gotten into it beyond the "wouldn't that be great" stage but it looks like Foretravel did it this way so they offset the toilet to allow enough space between the toilet and the sink. I need to take a look and do some measurements but has anyone ever done it? Thanks.

I looked at this on our 97 U270, but the heater duct runs through it to warm your pants when on the pot. ^.^d  ^.^d

I was thinking I could just terminate it with the outlet at the base of the sink cabinet. I peered in there with a flashlight and it looks like it's just the duct piping and the water. Thanks for the feedback.

The "poopie pipe" comes above the floor level, so without closely inspecting I think you'd need to mod an entirely new fitting.  The heating duct in ours also runs through the toilet base, but so you'd need to re-route to under the sink, or between the sink and toilet if the new setup would make room.

Mine has the vent pipe for poo tank, other stuff too.

I appreciate the feedback. We're in Oregon so of course it's raining so I'm sitting here dreaming up my next project. Anyhow...

I was thinking I wold just install a new flange on the floor. See photo of our 300.

Re the vent pipe, I don't think I would have to mess with that at all as I wouldn't be disturbing that area.

Re the heating duct, it runs under the sink cabinet floor already so I think I could just have its exit point at the side of the cabinet where it passes through now.

Forgot to attach the photo. Check out the second one. We pulled up the original tile and found this little drawing on the plywood. The tiler made his mark.

Thanks for the tip. That's where we bought our last one. Probably the same toilet. We replaced the (in my opinion) horrible electronic job with a dead simple Sealand.

Here's a few photos of our 300's black tank. On the last one you can see the two holes, one of each end (inlet and vent). The other stuff are the remains of the old fittings laying on top of the tank.

John.....on the U300 why did you remove the tanks.. ??? curious mind wants to know, since your U300 was 1 before ours on the prod line.

Just replaced ours with a Sea land replacement from PPL.  $299 plus $10 shipping.  Got it in three days.  Took about an hour to replace.  Figured I would just replace the whole unit rather than repair kit for the foot pedal and seals.

I have a box that the toilet sits on too.  There are two 45 degree fittings to shift the pipe over the black tank; visible when the flush valve is held open.  If you can see that it's a straight pipe down then I see no reason you couldn't eliminate the box since it sounds like you have a plan for the furnace duct.

What is that white plate around your toilet flange? Is that new? If not, what did you use to clean it. Does your toilet sit on it, or on the floor? Mine has tile which is not real level in that area. A separate piece like that (and thick enough) would eliminate that problem.
 
From what I can see in your pictures, I see no need for a raised throne.

Hans: Had to remove the tanks because of a non-repairable leak in the black tank. Pretty sure Foretravel damaged the tank but no way to make my case.

Randy: Was your toilet up on a pedestal? Any photos?

John: Re the two 45s, that's what I thought. Now I'm hoping that centering a floor mounted toilet won't bring it out too far. Have to get in there and do a little measuring.

Trent: I purchased that plate along with the toilet from PPL. It was some kind of adaptor for the flange I had.The toilet sits on it. This is my previous coach, not the current one. It had a floor mounted toilet and a huge bathroom (wasted space in my opinion). Here's a photo of the toilet mounted on that plate.

Toilets that are located directly above black tank do not need a wood box platform inside coach. 

Toilets like ours and probably yours have the toilet NOT located over black tank and need inside space under toilet to ANGLE the ABS drain from under toilet to the vertical pipe that goes down into the black tank. 

We CANNOT mount a toilet directly on the floor in our coach floorplan. 

We did completely rebuild our wood platform, but had to keep it in place.

I hate that!  ;)  Another great idea down the tube so to speak. Hadn't considered how close the top of the black tank is to the floor. Does this mean it's time to get rid of the 34? Seems a bit of an overreaction so OK, back to reviewing photos of floor jobs to see what others have done with the pedestal. Thanks for the definitive answer.

Still raining in Oregon. Reminds me of why we left this place those many years ago.
