Rats - Inverter/Converter Problems

I've got a problem with rats which I think are gone now but they have left me with an inverter issue, as well as a fuel line problem, which I will address in another post.  The inverter/charger control panel is totally dark; however, when I run the generator, it charges the batteries.  I've checked the voltage at the batteries before turning on the generator and after and I can definitely see a voltage difference.  Now here comes the weird part.  After I turn the generator off, the inverter is on (microwave control panel is on, 110 plugs are live, etc.) and I have no way to turn it off.  My guess is the rat chewed through a wire which goes to the control panel but I haven't had time to trace the wires yet.  Is there a manual way to turn the inverter off so I don't keep running my battery down while I work on the repairs?

What model inverter?  Most inverters have a manual power switch on the inverter itself.  Or if not, you could disconnect the positive input cable from the batteries (at either end), or the positive output cable where it leaves the inverter.

two control switches, one remote and one located on the inverter. Are both switched off?
