couch lamp

I tried using the "search" feature to find info on the 12v couch lamp with articulating arm behind the J couch.  Everything with couch or lamp came up, so not much use.
I'm looking for a replacement for my lamp, which is starting to look a little ratty and has come loose from  the anchor.  Has anyone dealt with this issue?  Also, there doesn't seem to be much access aside from the kick panel to do any work.  Once the base has been loosened, how do you re-attach to the threaded tube in the couch?
At this point, the only option I see is to remove the table and J couch in order to secure a new lamp.

Not sure about your year, but on my 93 lamp at the J-Sofa, I pulled the drawer under the J, crawled in and there are nuts that hold the base tube in place, a pair of needle nose will tighten them up. I had to take mine apart because it shorted (sharp edges and wire don't mix well). I couldn't figure why the front furnace kept blowing fuses till I found the lamp was on that circuit. Rewired and reattached and has worked fine since. Now my companion lamp on my table started shorting the front lights, had to cut the wire until I re-wire that one too.
