RV refrigerators

I would highly encourage anybody that is new to the RV World take some time and read every article on refrigerators on the beam alarm website. This will ensure that you get the most out of your RV refrigerator, and help ensure your own safety. Thanks Barry for your efforts and many others. Doing a little reading will make for a happy camper. Also do a search as there is lots of posts on this subject. That being said, I was going to attempt to do the ARP device install tomorrow, but I think I will chicken out, as I have a 3-way refrigerator, with a dinosaur board replacement. ARP website recommends disconnecting the 12 volt function of the refrigerator, as their control board cannot handle more than 5 amps. I'm thinking there's got to be a relay somewhere. To handle the 18 amps of 12 volt service to run the refrigerator. Does anybody know if the dinosaur board has a relay inside of it?

Phred, agree with ARP. You have a big propane tank when travelling, and 110 when plugged in, so why worry about running on 12 volts which is only good when main engine is running anyway. You will have two electric elements, one 12 volt dc and one 120 volt ac. One less element to worry about. You will still need 12 vdc for control voltage, but you don't need to use it for heater operation. If I remember the old 3 way refrigerators, think you can select which mode you want to use. Just switch to ac on sp/gen., and lp, when not.
