Fire extinguisher locations

My coach has one by the entry door. Thought it might be prudent to mount one next to the co-pilot seat in case all that wiring under the lift up dash should go "Lucas" on me. Is it all self extinguishing? Tested some of the Chinese primary wire I just got from AutoZone, and doesn't appear to substain combustion. Lots of speaker and zip cord under the dash though.

Did they even make "self extinguishing" wire in 1989?  (I don't know, is why I am asking)

We have one mounted by the door, probably from the factory, and a second one behind the driver's seat. That one was one we had back in the S&B, and since it fit nicely there I decided to keep it. I should probably put another one in the bedroom area.

I have one mounted behind the pax seat, in the bedroom and in a compartment. I also have one in the garage and in the house although both of those are covered by the recent fire extinguisher recall.

Common suggestions by fire fighters (raises my hand here) is to have a properly sized and appropriate can near the following:
Kitchen
Each sleeping area (in a common hallway, not each bedroom)
Basement near the utility room.
Any area where fuel is stored.
I'm sure you can come up with the analogy for our home on wheels.

Speaking of which, we just received our two brand new shiny replacement extinguishers from Kidde yesterday.  They enclosed a pre-paid return address label in each box.  Tells you to remove the new unit from the shipping box, replace it with the old unit, and stick the label on the outside.  Then you call FedEx and they will pick up the return carton at your house.  EASY!  ^.^d

In case any Forum members didn't get the memo, her's the "heads up" on the recall:

We have two by the door--one above the other, and one on the wall on my side of the bed. (three in total)
If we wake up in the middle of the night I want to be able to get us out safely.
We have gone thru one house fire, and if I hadn't had the fire extinguisher alongside the bed where I could get my hands on it immediately, I think our two little kids (upstairs) would have either died or had to jump from a second story farmhouse window onto the frozen ground.

Remember, fire extinguishers are only good for two things:
1)  swinging at the head of someone who does not belong in your home.
2)  "knocking down" a fire.  This is very different from "putting out" a fire.

Once you knocked it down, grab your most important thing (your hunny bunny) and make like a tree and leave.
Fire extinguishers are not to be depended on to FIGHT a fire.

But Who wants to buy a fire suppression device? They can extinguish certain fires for sure. Point it at the base of the flames for best results. Fire triangle is based on three essential elements, fuel, oxygen, and an ignition source, eliminate or smother any one of those and it dies. Grease, rubber or plastic are almost impossible to extinguish. Spray and exit asap, or exit asap if flames are larger than a grocery bag or smoke is filling coach. 15 or 20 min. later the pros will arrive to watch, and prevent damage to adjacent elements or spreading. In all due respect most firefighters are prepared and will bust their butt getting there  but that is the reality of the situation.
