Shading the RV

The city told me that I couldn't build an RV on the lower lot (100 year flood zone), so I've put in a "Hollywood" hedge (Indian Laurel Fichus) that will grow 50'+ if it isn't trimmed.  This should protect my southern exposure.
People ask me why I need a tractor......

That's good digging there....Try doing that in most of Connecticut !!!!! You would be breaking the shovel in half.

You only got 10 rocks in all that digging? I would get 10 in one shovel full! Not fair😩

I had a lot of rocks you can't see that were picked up by the tractor's bucket.  Most ended up in the creek.  I ran into clay as I got further down that required soaking over night.  I will be spending the next year, once again, picking up small rocks that were spread out over the lower lot.

At my place it would be 1 rock, but it would be the size of a small city.  From past experience the rock only gives in to blasting.

This would have been a little harder without the tractor.  We have it back filled now and are waiting for it to fill in.  I'll post final photos after they fill in.

I have a little BX2200 with a loader and a 6' finish mower.  I have had it for 15 years or so.  No idea how I would get along without it.
It has moved tons of dirt and rock, kept my .2 miles of road in good shape, and cut more grass than I want to admit

Did you use a box blade or the loader to dig that ditch?

Sven, the hedge will help and look pretty good too.  We have pretty good soil here until you get down 3-4'  - then bedrock.  Nice tractor.

Wouldn't  it have been easier to remove the trees from the containers before placing them in the ditch? Great looking plant material. it will fill in quickly.

We ahve around 150ft of sand depth were house is built (Desert) and every hole I have dug I have yet to find a rock of any size. I dug by hand a trench about 100ft long x 4ft deep x 12" wide in a day for the sewer connection for Guest house. Fence post holes are just a few minutes work- nice!

ps  I gather Sven you are just going to break those root boxes apart and leave in trench to rot- less clean up.

Did you use a box blade or the loader to dig that ditch?
I used both the Gannon with rippers and front loader.

I removed the bottom of the boxes before moving them.  I needed the stability of the box to keep the root ball intact and to secure to the loader.  Easy to knock off once they were in the trench.
