Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #1 – December 13, 2017, 01:58:07 pm Are you saying you can't get to the safe door for the carpet? If so you will have to cut the carpet. If you don't have the combination you can call Foretravel with the coach serial number and provide a Drivers license ID and they will give you the combination. I am answering questions you didn't ask but maybe it helped. Quote Selected
Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #2 – December 13, 2017, 02:10:15 pm Thanks Dub. I have safe combo. I can see and feel the rectangular carpet and floor cutout where the safe is hidden. Just can't get the floor hatch to open. Quote Selected

Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #6 – December 14, 2017, 04:18:13 pm No, the carpet is nicely cut out around the hatch door. There's no sign of any release of the door. Quote Selected
Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #7 – December 14, 2017, 06:11:53 pm Just pull on the carpet itself. No latch Quote Selected

Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #13 – December 16, 2017, 09:34:03 pm Did that. It won't open. Clearly there is a latch on the outer door, with a secret release somewhere. I've searched to coach over for secret releases to no avail. Quote Selected
Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #14 – December 16, 2017, 10:39:34 pm then use a thin prybar as it has to open and there are no known secret latches on any. Cannot harm anything by using a bit of force.JohnH Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #15 – December 17, 2017, 03:10:10 am My PO had no idea there was a safe. And He had owned it for 22 years. Good tug on the carpet lifted up the hatch to reveal the safe. No hidden latches or anything just a good tug up on the carpet. Also a 1989. Quote Selected
Re: ‘89 U300 Safe Reply #16 – December 17, 2017, 07:40:47 am If the carpet has been replaced? Maybe the installer got carried away with the carpet adhesive. I would do as suggested and use a flat bar or large flat blade screwdriver. Try running a sharp knife around the three non hinged sides, make sure carpet cutout and cover lid are in alignment.
