Gas Range in 89 GV U300

Did FT install a standard brand and model gas range in this era? I am told that I must replace my range due to a LP gas leak, but am not at the coach to get serial numbers, etc. I hoped that perhaps there was some standardization.

Mine is a four-burner stovetop with oven.

Who told you that you need to replace the gas range. It's a very basic range with only a few parts. Anything is easily repairable for very little $$. Seems like someone is trying to make some money off you.

Mine is a 92 u300 with a magic chef model # bt16rk-4tz four burner.

Our '89 has Magic Chef. Four burner stove with pilot (optional on or off) and oven with pilot control on oven control.
Check that everything is POSITIVELY turned off, even the pilot light.
The top burner pilot control lever is  reached by lifting oven top and right behind the knobs--just to the left of the two right knobs.

I would not replace it either!  Love our stove, four burners are not easily found.  We have found replacement parts on the web fairly easy

We have the Magic Chef four burner on our 94 U240.  Although the PO got the optional black color.

We have a lighter knob to start the burners!

Our PO installed a 2008 MC and it has them, as well, pretty nice! It looks like it slid right in with no  external modifications. We got used to the 3-burner configuration.  ^.^d

Thank you all. I am going to look into this thoroughly, as I have never had to replace a range before, and certainly not due to a leak. However, it is good to know from the kind pists here that the range is in all likelihood, the Magic Chef model # bt16. It is a four-burner stove and I'd like to keep that.

Super simple MC design, and agree that any so called leak is only a $20 or less repair. My 89 MC looks and performs well, I have the manuals and have not used the oven yet. Pretty sure I tested the oven though.
