Entry Light

Seem to be on a " roll ". We are in Puerto Penasco, with Twig, Phil and now, Tim. My light at the door no longer works. It was doing fine . I could turn on the light at the door. I could turn on the light by touching the grab bar. Now, the grab bar lights up. The switch to the light is hot. There is NO power at the lamps. I wanted to replace the lamp, at Quartzite, with a LED motion light with a yellow lens. I passed on it, at this time. Now, there is now power to the light. I think that the problem might be at the grab bar, but I am a little nervous about taking it apart to look for a loose wire. The screws look a little hard to get at. Comments ??

There are 2 wires going to the light in the top part of the handle, a wire going to the screw in the bottom part for the touch light. the screws are very easy. The light up top I replaced with LED's 2 weeks ago and just 2 wires up there too. Sounds like the ballasts are shorting (metal frame could be a shorted wire up there). Remove the 2 black screw caps and 2 screws holding the ends, then the lens slides out.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, I removed the lens by simply squeezing it. There is NO ballast to be seen. Just two skinny flourescent looking bulbs. I was told if one bulb is out, both are out ?? Or there is a loose wire somewhere. Thanks

Glenn, the ballast will be behind the plate the lights are on. It slides out.

It was the contacts for the bulbs. Tightened them up. Seems ok. Will be changing it out for LED motion light that I should have bought at Quartzite. Thanks.

I replaced my porch light with this one. I personally think it is priced too high for what it is but it does do a pretty good job.

Actually, it was TWIG who fixed my light. Couldn't have done it without him !! Now, if he could only find my air leak.......
