Dental work in Mexico

Posted an inquiry some time ago and lost the recommended Dentists named in the responses.  I believe the town where the Dental offices were located was in Los Algodones.  I'll be needing some extensive work and considering the economics of heading there to get it done.  Would look forward to any help as well as comments regarding your experiences there or perhaps other recommendations.

Lots of people get work done there. Defiantly ask some Americans for a reference. The $20.00 cleaning is a scam to get a look at your teeth and up sell you. But not all do it.I had it done about 8 years ago, and they told me I needed $1200.00 worth of work. I passed. When I got home, my dentist did a deep cleaning, and found nothing.
I had a chipped tooth last year, and they repaired it really good for $60.00. The rooms are small, and may have others in with you. Can be hot.They some times offer you some pot to help. Seriously. I haven't smoked it for 50 years, so I passed.
I personally needed 2 implants, and 2 teeth pulled. I had them done at home, because I wanted a warranty. I trust my dentist. But he looked at the chipped tooth, and said it looked really good. My home dentist is cool, and not a hard sell. He has plenty of business. But has seen some bad work he had to re-do.
I know lots of people that have had work done there and are happy. If you get something done painful, ask to be lead to the front of the line at the border. Otherwise it can be an hour wait mid day.
I chose to get care credit (free on line) and made 4 payments (no interest for 1 year) on 4K worth of work at home.And yes, I had some warranty work done for free at home.
Sorry if I confused you more, just be careful and selective where you go.Don't listen to the hustle at the entry people.Place's are clean. I heard they all went to school in the US.
We are actually in Yuma now, and will be going down a few times to buy more "Stuff we don't need" and pay "almost free" for it.

No experiences in Los Al' as I get all my Dental work done in Bucerious just north of P Vallarta. This is a few days drive south of Nogales Border crossing. Have been using Dr Adrian for 10 + yrs and would Not use any other.

They have just moved to a new hospital a few blocks away and the new practice is state of the art in technology and equipt. This is really the latest stuff that more than likely is way ahead of most (if not all) Dentisits in Canada and USA. He also has an in house Pharmacy they are just stocking- total one stop shop. We were very impressed with it all as I visited him for a cleaning 2 weeks ago. I drove 2 days (each way)and rented a great condo /apt for 4 days just so he could do my cleaning and check up. Not the usual cost saving as it most probably cost me for the total trip around $1500.00 BUT NO one else touches my teeth.
He now has 3 other Dentists working there under his guidence due to heavy client load. If any one needs fairly extensive work and wants a basically free holiday (savings on dental cost) I highly recommend his work.

Unless you are closer to Arizona, and your profile says you are in Atlanta, I wouldn't make the drive all the way to Los Algodones - there are perfectly great dentists in Nuevo Progreso, directly south of Weslaco in between Harlingen and Mission, TX.  It is where all the Winter Texans** go.  Let me know if you would like more information, and I'll be happy to send you a detailed pm. 

** "Snowbirds" are those that winter in Arizona & Florida.  Those that flock to Texas for the winter are affectionately named: "Winter Texans."

We and our friends have had a long term relationship with Washington Dental clinic in Tijuana.

Modern state of the art marble floored new office,  see their website.  Private parking lot in front of their office.  Lots of new luxury American plated cars parked out front

They have another office in Juarez unknown to us

Circle Dental has worked for us - so far.  Had my lower jaw/arch completely rebuilt that included: 1 implant, 2 bridges and a bunch of crowns.  5 year warranty.  DW is going back this month to have her implant completed.  We have worked with them for 2 years or so.

We talked to many people over a 3 to 4 year period of time asking questions of other RVers that have had work done there before we decided to have dental work done there.

Never thought about going to the front of the line because of the discomfort.  ^.^d

We highly recommend in Algodones, Dr Alma Luna.  Alma has several specialist that she uses and recommends for root canal & extractions.  If you like dry camping there is huge free unlimited RV parking area an the Casino located near the Interstate.  Car parking at the border is about $6 for all day.  Must have US passport to reenter USA, nothing needed to enter Mexico.  Do not use a dentist or buy eyeglasses without a strong recommendation.  Just like the US, there are some bad dentist in Mexico.

If anyone is considering dental work across the border from Lukeville, AZ (south of Ajo), we know who NOT to use. Had to go to a American dentist to re-do the damage done.  >:D

Yup, seen a few people do it. No one complains......Just go to the front of the line and ask if you can step in because of your recent dental work.
We go down about 3-3:30 az time, all the vendors are in a good mood, offer you free mini Corona's and Maragrita's. They deal real good too. Then we have dinner, wait till the line mellows out, then walk across with no or little wait.
