Genset / inverter questions.

Hello Folks.

New member here. New to me Foretravel owner.

Have a few questions.

When on shore power as well as inverter. All 110 plugs work. When genset is Running only a few plugs will work.

Above Microwave.
Above tv
Beside bed
Block heater and water heater.

Is this normal ??  Am I missing some steps.

This coach is a 1998 U295 , we received very little in way of manuals and steps to make things work.
We also need some info as to relay locations and what relay is what on the 12 volt side.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Buck.

Welcome Buck,

You coach is a lot newer than ours, so I'm going to let another member try to field your question.

If you didn't get much in the way of manuals, you will need to know where to look for info.  I'm going to list some links that you can use as you see fit.  If you read everything found in these links, you will know pretty much everything you need to know about your coach:

Thank you  Chuck , for the info links. , it will come in handy I'm sure.

I did find today , that while I only get 110 to some plugs on the generator. I did discover that if the inverter is turned on , that all the plugs do work.

Is this normal operation.

That and a windshield leak that , now has my whole front interior disassembled. So much for installing new flooring. First things first.

Thanks again.

Buck,
1.  No this isn't normal. When you are on generator power your coach should be fully functional. This sounds like your generator transfer switch has a bad/burnt contact on one leg not making up. On your coach the OEM transfer switch will have replaceable contacts.  The key word is OEM as your coach could have had the transfer switch replaced before.  The transfer switch should be under your bed. After you raise the bed there is an area at the foot that has the transfer switches.

2. You will need to get a B-2197 and a B-2126 print for your coach to get started.
Here is a link to some pics as to where part of your 12vdc relays and breakers are.  They are usually grouped together. This is where most of the breakers and relays are on your B-2197 print.
Nothing happens when I turn the ignition switch
Here is a link to the pics of where to find some others in your basement that are on your B-2126 print.

Thank you Pamela & Mike.

I didn't think it was normal lol. With a 10 kw generator lol.

I'm located on Vancouver Island  British Columbia Canada.

I'll check the transfer switches. There are two of them as well as two breaker panels.

Do your air conditioners work on the inverter? I don't know why the heaters (block, water) would run on the inverter. Seams like it would be a big draw on the batteries. Maybe someone with a bigger coach than me can chime in.
Also check the generator circuit breakers. Mine has two, one for each leg.

My Air does not work off the inverter. @ legs on the genset 50amp breaker each one.

Thinking maybe someone was in the wiring and changed it around or is it possible when it switches over the switch is switching 1 leg?

I tried to put the refridge on the inverter and it was to big a draw, so the heater would be to much also
