Steering fluid tank,

Hi All, Im back,

I had a leaky seal in my power steering box, So I pulled it out and replaced the seals in it,
I put it all back in and went to top up the tank in the front of my Grand Villa but it was almost full
I put a cupfull back in it and it was over flowing,
Is there another tank some where that holds the oil for the power steering,
I have looked everywhere and I cant find any thing on it, or where it is located,
I dumped about 3 litres out of it when I pulled it apart, So it is missing a lot of oil somewhere,

Thanks Brian,
Cheers, Brian,

Not positive about your GV, but on our GV the tank up front is brake fluid. The power steering reservoir is back in the engine compartment. Driver's side back corner. (my driver's side, not yours the way it is now) Black. About 8" in diameter. T-handle dipstick on top.
Uses transmission fluid (I think). About a gallon capacity. Has internal filter that requires changing periodically.
If you don't have specs and capacity I might be able to find mine.

Good lord, I hope you didn't put transmission fluid in that opaque reservoir mounted on the "firewall" in front of the old driver's position? If you did you had best drain & replace with new brake fluid.

My power steering fluid reservoir is in the engine compartment and is approx 8" and holds approx 2 gal of 5-40 motor oil, the same as I use in the engine.

John, your coach is a "little" bit newer than Brian's and my coach.
I have attached the sheet from My Oshkosh Truck Service Manual and also the page from the Foretravel's owners manual.
Go wrong here and BAD problems could occur.

Hm-m-m. Just read the handwritten note on my FOT sheet. Totally contradicts the printed instructions. Now what? Check what is in the steering tank, and then add same stuff?

Bugga, Your right, It is Brake fluid in there, Its been a while since I played with it, I just remember using a gallon Container to fill it last time,
No wonder it was still full,  Hahahahaha,  I will drop it all out and chuck it, I hope it hasnt swelled any of the rubbers,
Thank fully I didnt get much in, I havent used the Brakes, So it wont be mixed,

Brake fluid for me is in small bottles,  Hydraulic Fluid is always in big containers, I have a tractor, Hahahaha
I forgot I had bought the gallon size of Brake Fluid,  When they changed it from LHD to RHD it kept blowing hoses,
They didnt use Hydraulic hoses, Only high pressure hoses, It was using a lot of Brake fluid, Dumping it on the ground,
So I bought a big one, and changed the hoses to hydraulic ones, That cured it,

It was the steel tank right in the middle with the Pump on one end,
I was scratching my head about it, As the hoses for the Steering went back into the Coach some where and didnt seem connected to that tank,
Thats why I thought there must be another tank some where, And there is, I couldnt find it in the manuals,

Thank you all for the Advice, And the laugh at my stupidity, Hahahaha  We all have our moments, Hahaha

Cheers, Brian,
