My desiccant cartridge came today...............and guess what................it's MADE IN USA.

I ordered it from here;    DQ6036 by HALDEX - DESICCANT CARTRIDGE    at a total cost of $101.34.

It came packed in American Made cardboard, has Haldex installation instructions, is labeled HALDEX MADE IN USA and has a coalescing filter included.

The price difference between the two kits was only about $20.00.

I find the comments on items made in China quite funny actually as if one is so  strong about not having anything made in China(or Asian etc countries) then you had better throw out most of your electronic items. How many of us own TVs, cameras and cell phones- not to mention computers et al that are made overseas?? Some items even have made in China parts but assembled in US and vice versa. Tough these days to have an item with no off shore content.

Yes David, I believe so too.  I remember growing up when Japanese cars were considered junk, jokes such as the inside of the fenders have Budweiser labels showing.  Now look where Japanese cars rate.  (I've put over 600,000 miles on Toyotas and that is after working for Volkswagen and MBZ for 17 years).  I remember Consumer Reports making Korean cars a do not buy for any reason.  Now the Hyundai is one of the highest rated quality cars built in the world.

The present feeling on China in USA will change in 2 yrs (maybe before) as they are too big a country and producer of products at a  more affordable price than home made items. The billions of people that shop at Walmarts are the ones who are not buying "made in USA" will dictate this. This company must be the biggest seller of items made in Indonesia, India and China to name just a few. SO, anyone shopping there is promoting the cheaper prices of non US made items. Cost to the end users of that store are not concerned of where it is made, they just want a price they can afford.

Most of these "Walmart items" that we buy do not have a American counterpart so that is a no brainer.One example of a choice
of China or USA would be items made of steel,every now and then when I worked on the offshore platforms we would get a
shackle that was used on the crane made in China,we were told to throw it away because of so many failures.Many items that
we still have a choice between China and USA are not that much more money.Next time any of you fly Southwest check out
their magazine,the last few pages are full of ads promoting businesses to move to China.It would take 20 years to get these
companies back if they started now.

Chinese steel is not regulated when mixing like USA steel is. Tube steel from there splits at the seam real easy and welding is difficult because the thickness is ordered @ .065 but comes in @ .057 to .063 but never .065..

This thickness change on 1 piece of tube so not well regulated

I have trouble with the statement of no counterpart for Chinese items at Walmart??? Did not know Walmart sold shackles for the oil industry!

I rarely shop there but cannot think of anything that they sell that cannot be made in USA, but at a much higher price. I am not saying they make better things, just that millions of people shop there due to the price (cheaper) and this store is popular for this reason.Most    govt welfare cheques are cashed there according to a recent survey on TV.

They only good way we have found to deal with the substandard junk is send back to the vendor, have them send a truck over to pick it up. The vendor gets to handle it at least twice. Two or three times when this happens and the vendor gets a bad taste in his mouth and a warehouse full of junk he can't sell and finally shipped back to importer. Do not just pile it out back or throw it away reuturn it for credit, otherwise the supply & profit chain keeps moving. Just my thoughts.

John,reread the post,I did not say that Walmart sold shackles,was comparing 2 products.Yes the products can be made here but they are not.The less expensive plastic items that are made in China do not have an American conterpart.

Try the cable ties or electrical tape from Harbor Freight! Ties break if pulled tight. Tape doesn't even stick to itself. Both made in China. I refuse to buy either item from HF. (Plus a lot of other items)
When I do buy these items they say Made in USA or I don't buy. There are a lot of things we should not buy solely on price, but on performance.
Unfortunately, as has been stated above, most people buy solely on price. Then find out how bad the product really is, but too lazy to take it back & file a complaint. Wonder how many injuries or coach fires have occurred because the crappy Chinese electrical tape let go. Or their Chinese hose clamps, or their Chinese cable ties?
Makes one shudder to think that maybe the disk brake pads on our coaches were made in China!

I just purchased a reman air dryer DA33100X from NAPA. $232.42 plus tax. Got a discount through AITA (America,s Independent Truckers, Association, Inc.) I have a membership, $10.00 or free if you sign up at a perticipating NAPA store. Details at America's Independent Truckers' Association or ask a NAPA employee. Worth looking into.

I went to a NAPPA store and signed up. Clerk recommended it & took my application. I am not involved in the trucking or transportation industry but I use a lot of the same parts. I had no problem & the clerk knew I wasn't a trucker. The fee was waived since I enrolled through an authorized AITA Vendor (NAPPA). I would check with a NAPPA store. Maybe they were trying to boost their membership but I had no problem signing up.
