Location of chassis fuses and breakers ‘98 U320

Can anyone help me locate the chassis fuse panel/breakers?  I found the coach panel on the foot of the bed base, but I can't find the darn chassis panel! It's a 1998 40' U320. I'll take any help I can.

Chris,

What you may be looking for could be hid behind the removable kick panel  that is on your right hand side as you come in the front door.  It just pops in place so you can grab the bottom of the panel and give it a tug. You will have to remove the A/C duct to get the panel to move completely out of the way. A lot of the breakers and relays are hid in here. Here is a link to some pics as to what you will find.  Nothing happens when I turn the ignition switch

To add to that more behind the white fiberglass cover in the bay with the inverter and 12v compressor.

That's is what mine looks like except I have my battery cut off switch mounted there in addition what your picture showed. I gave that panel a tug and it seems like it was there to stay. No budge at all and I was afraid to tear or break something. It was that tight.

Yes it can be tight if the spring keepers have set for a long time.  If you use both hands, one on each side it will come unstuck.

How about the light switches, floor panel switch and battery cut off switch? Will there be enough play behind the board so when I give it a tug I won't break anything?

There has to be enough wire to the switches so that they could be mounted with the panel uninstalled.  After you get the panel off, the breaker panel itself can be removed to get to stuff like the wiper motor and mechanism.  Took me several years to figure that out.  Disconnect the battery ground cables before removing the breaker panel.

Just to clarify what Jerry posted, there is sufficient wire length to allow you to remove the cover panel.  Once you have the cover panel off you can actually unbolt and move the circuit breaker panel out of the way to access several items mounted forward of the circuit breaker panel.  The warning about disconnecting the ground cable applies if you are unbolting and moving the circuit breaker panel.  You do not have to disconnect the ground cables in order to pop off the cover panel.

Chris,
1. As other have said there is enough slack to get the panel loose. If you look close at the second pic. that I linked to you can see the slack you have in both the vent hoses and the wires for the switches.

2. This is the interesting thing of your statement.  Someone must have either had Foretravel install the battery cut off switch (salesman switch) in this location or moved it there them selves. Either way it is a good idea as the normal position is in the step well where the backside of the switch is somewhat exposed to water spray off the tire and the outside environment.  I personally would like you to post a pic of where this is mounted as this is of interest to me.

3. There is no other access to this area but through this panel so it had enough slack in the cabling to install the panel after all the electrical work was completed behind it.  Someone could have hide a couple of screws because they were afraid that the panel was going to fall off but OEM this panel was just held on by 2 ball spring clips and where the vinal covering has glued itself together with the dash vinal.

4. Where are you located? You might be our neighbor and someone that is familiar could swing by your location and help out. Your profile page is kind of slim pickins (which some prefer).

I'm located in Coopersburg PA which is just south of Allentown and an hour north of Philly. I'll try to get some pics up this weekend. What I don't want to do is create more problems trying to fix another. This is all part of trying to get my generator running (which is another thread). I love my coach and am still learning lots (with the help of my gracious and patient neighbor who is a Foretravel guy).

Here's a photo of the female part of the latch from my 300. There is one on each side matched by a male part on the cover. The top of the cover is tucked into a recess under the dash. As others have said, grab the cover on its bottom edge and yank that sucker back to you. It will pop out and then you just slide it down out of the recess. There are likely a number of these same latches in your coach. Check out the closet doors to see what they look like.

My advice is don't agonize over this stuff. It's just a motorhome. If you break something you can fix it.

Thank you all for your help. Panel located and accessed. All was okay. Generator issue was the fuel pump.
