Where is the amp?

Related to my other thread, we're trying to find the amp for the OTA antenna. According to the wiring information, it is on the same circuit as the bedroom lights, which would imply that it is in the bedroom area. The coax comes down at the front. They didn't run the coax from the front back to the bedroom to an amp, then back to the front for the tv did they? Might there be a splitter up front, with one line going to the front tv (no amp) and a second line going to the bedroom, first to an amp, then to the tv?

The antenna switch in the rear controls the power to the antenna. I believe that the amp is in the antenna. The power is sent through the copper center wire which brings the signal in.

On my coach if you remove the top drawer under the TV you can access the 110 duplex that supplies the TV and the antenna .

In mine it is behind the TV

Thanks, Gerry. I think that I may have removed it when we ditched the bedroom tv and vcr.

What confuses me, though, is that the amp is shown on circuit 7 of the 12v side. There is no voltage on the coax anywhere.

On our coach, the power for the antenna comes from a Winegard splitter box located under the rear closet floor.  The box has a 0.25 amp fuse for the antenna power circuit.  Circuit is turned on and off by switch on bedroom wall.  Like Gerry said, power goes from the splitter box, through the "ANTENNA IN" coax, up to the rooftop antenna.  The antenna amp is actually part of the antenna.

We found the amp right where Chuck and Jeannie said it was. We replaced the F-connector at the roof end of the short coax from the roof to the top of the antenna. At this point, we still have an issue with the coax at the television. As long as it is just the center wire going into the television connection we have good reception. As soon as the shield is connected we have nothing.

At this point the plan is to remove the old satellite dish and close up the opening. When we're in Nac later this year I'll show them pictures of what we did and have them redo it if they think it necessary. We're going to put a thin sheet of metal over the area, held down by the current screws, and then the whole thing covered with Eternabond.
