Dometic 1492 removal/ norcold 2118 install

I removed the domestic 1492 unit. It stopped cooling.. wouldn't get below 55 degrees..

Found a norcold 2118 for sale locally and picked it up for 500$

Removal wasn't real easy but not majorly difficult.. interior top screws and interior lower screws.. exterior had to hidden screws in the pan that houses all the electrical stuff.. the new fridge is approx 10" taller, all other measurements worked..

Interior fridge is 30 degrees and freezer is at 10.. way better than the original.. came out pretty good. Lost a little shoulder room as the door stuck out a little more but I'll take it considering the fridge is about double the storage of the latter one ..
Doors are skinned a little so going to look into a wrap or going with wood inserts .. I want to add the ice maker and maybe the water fill option but for sure the ice option... so far so good.. will ha e to add a pic of the new one. Guess I didn't take a pic

Had to use a pry bar to break loose the caulking used to hold it down.. interior was a wrestling match to break loose..

Looks like the old one had a lot  of mold around the door so was not working properly for sure. Not a healthy picture for sure.
30* sounds too cold for main cabinet, I thought close to 40 was the norm?

I had a new Norcold sitting on the garage floor that I horse traded for a couple of months before we first got our U300. It fit in with a little work needed on the bottom plus fire proofing the enclosure. It's been great and gets as cold as we want it. They make front panels in several colors if you don't like yours.

Looking at your photos of the electrical, etc., it appears from the photos that the factory did the same sloppy job on yours as they did on ours.

That was under the metal treim at the bottom.. it couldnt be seen.. mostly rust.. nasty for sure.. was a little surprised when I removed it to say the least..

I have some parts I removed from it if anyone is interested. doors with panels. broke the handle on the r-side trying to remove fridge but if anyone needs the left side it is in good shape.. Door bins, Ice maker with harness (not sure it works) fridge rods that go in the back (heating elements maybe?) I have 2 that are less than a year old but used. A dinosaur board also for it... if anyone needs racks and so on let me know.

Scratched the doors up a little trying to get this huge thing in.. sanded and wrapped with 4d printed vinyl. I ordered a 5'x5' sheet for $50.00.. pretty inexpensive I think.. it hid the dinks and I really like it. Took up a little more room than I wanted in the pass through to the bathroom but a fair trade I think. Might cover some more stuff inside like the side of the microwave and I am sure I will find other stuff..

I have to say that you did a really nice job with the vinyl. Looks high tech and blends in perfectly. Yes, source for the vinyl? I wouldn't have a problem with the passageway.
