Console Beeping

U270 - periodic beeping sound coming from driver side console.  Can't figure out what it is.  Happens when driving or when parked.  Any thoughts???

Welcome to the Forum!

The sound is made by the annunciator under your dash, or as my wife calls it, the "IRRITATOR".  It is a multi-purpose alarm generator that can be triggered by multiple sensors scattered around your coach.  The trick is finding out which one is not happy.

Most likely candidate: the "ANTENNA UP" sensor mounted to the support arm on your crank-up Winegard rooftop TV antenna.  If it is misaligned, or it fails, the annunciator will think your antenna is "UP" when it is actually "DOWN".  Link below to a photo:

Check it out, and let us know what you find.  We can go from there to other possibilities.

Today, I'm going to test all my systems that were turned on that 'hurricane day' that caused my 'beep beep beep' from the dash. Will post should I find the culprit.  ^.^d

Start with the antenna up sender as Chuck posted. Though certainly not the only culprit, it is a cheap, easy to replace and likely cause.  Those magnetic switches are mostly for indoor use as part of a security system.  UV on the roof and water will degrade them, causing false signals.

Wouldn't the ANTENNA UP light be on in the dash if the switch failed?

Maybe.  But, often there is just enough corrosion/ resistance that is does not trigger the light, but does make the alarm sound (usually softly).

We don't have the 'bat wing' or any sort of fold up/down anymore since the PO changed to a dome. Any clues WHERE the switch was for the old antenna? I don't recall (was pretty busy avoiding being swept off the road) a warning light  coming on at the dash. Hmmm....... :-\

Mike,

If the old Wingard antenna was removed, quite likely the "antenna up" sender was also removed.  It was just behind the driver's seat-- normal location for the bat wing.

I posted a link in Reply #1 (above) to a photo showing exactly where the sensor is mounted on the crank-up antenna.  If your OTA antenna is gone, then 99% possibility the sensor is also gone.  If, looking across your roof, you don't see it...then it ain't there.

I spent  long time looking for an Intermittent beeping that was the alarm remote on the ignition key with a low battery.

Interesting: that's where my 'beep' was coming from. I did have everything on full except the radio and the beeping tone only came on after almost seventy miles of 35 mph 'bad news weather'. I tried to replicate it today, with no results.  :-\
