Weird Water

In camp today for only the third time out this year, had to dry camp as all camp water turned off. Upon opening up the galley, and shortly thereafter, shower faucets, coal black water!  What?

The water cleared after running, but cannot understand the cause of this charcoal source.

Did you put a new water filter in? Most if not all of the canister filters will put out charcoal clouds until flushed out.

What Don said.  Out of curiosity, I took one of the blue CAMCO filters apart.  Results below.  Suppose most other brands are similar...

The little foam dohickie is a (supposedly) 100 micron particulate filter.  The black stuff is, according to the label, carbon + KDF (?).

Yes, infact now that you mention it, I did recently replace the big filter. That's no doubt the cause.

Thanks!
