Need trailer brake advice please

I have a 2000 U270 and need to install a trailer brake controller. Looking for ideas on the best one and heads up on the worst. I'd love to go wireless, anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance

I would contact eTrailer.com about anything to do with trailer accessories. They have just about anything you might need including installation videos and buyer ratings for what they sell. Here is just an example for a brake controller: https://www.etrailer.com/multi-product.aspx?pc1=90195&pc2=3015-P&hhmake=Chevrolet&hhmodel=Tahoe&hhyear=2005&vehicleid=200537877&hunter=bc

brake controller for trailer towing

My opinion hasn't changed in over twelve years of use.
The Tekonsha 90195 P3 Electronic Brake Control is the best of the best, without being overpriced.

Wireless, in a safety application, on unobservable axles, doesn't appear to be a conservative choice.HTH,

I have a prodigy. Used the extra wires in the harness. Cut out the hole for the trailer plug bracket in back larger, installed a 7 round. Piece of cake.
Tekonsha is good too.

This is my favorite, using it on a 16ft Haulmark utility trailer with my toad.  I could not be more pleased.  Came highly recommended by my RV technician mechanic when I called him to do a wired install on my Lexus GX470.

If it works on my U295 I will be ecstatic.  As far as the portable display that just plugs into cigarette lighter, it gives me a great confidence level that all is working properly.  It has very clear indications that unit is paired or not.  For the last year I've loved testing it's easily adjustable level of braking with different weight loads and street conditions, never have I found it lacking.

And so I would definitely try it, as both eTrailer and Amazon have good return policies.  I will not be able to test mine on the RV till June, but when I do I will post an update here.  You might read some of the hundred + 5 star reviews for more confidence in trying.  I installed mine myself, with directions, it was extremely easy to wire the unit to the trailer.  And now I can use the portable, cig lighter plug with remote display and adjustments in any unit I tow it with. (Hopefully eventually  my 97 U295)  I'll be watching for your updates, again mine will be the end of June as I'm out of the area from my FT..
