Things that go thump in the night

Thanks to Barry and Cindy for their 10 year old answer to this same title.

Everything has been awesome, 1278 miles and counting, engine smells new and clean, but had this thump, especially on the cement divides in the road.Tammy said it was right under the toilet.

I highly recommend using search on here, instead of a new post every time you have a question. Five minutes of search, and it was as expected. Loose shock bolt.

I am re-posting, just for history on here. The technical reason I believe is, because there is a couple of thousands play on the shock bolt, and the metal insert in the shock rubber. So any looseness, and the shock moves slightly.

In my case, a simple tightening of the lower nut revealed it was slightly loose. Unwilling to think this was too simple of a fix, So I pulled the top and bottle bolts out and did the inspection. It also told me the shocks are in great shape. I replaced both bolts, and greased them.

She rides like a Caddy again!

Cheers Chris

Chris,

We had fun finding our 11-year old solution to thumping from not tight enough shock bolts. Thanks for sharing your research. Amazing that somewhere on our Forum there is an answer to every question.

Our 11-year old reply to Paul Smith was posted on our original Yahoo Forum. Figuring that we purchased our Foretravel in year 2000 and the Foretravel-Yahoo technical forum was already running, we all have access to over 20 years of useful assistance.

Thanks to Steve & Michelle, and their powerful technical skills, even our original Yahoo forum answers have been captured and indexed into our Foreforums search data base.

Thank you Steve & Michelle. . .
