Fumoto valve, do you have one?

I ordered one off their web page for my M11 ism 450. I was going to put it on when I changed my oil this week but it wouldn't fit. Looks like one is course threads and the other looks to be fine threads... Anyone else had this happen to them? I know someone that has one in their M11 ism400 but it is unknown what the threads are in it...

Thanks
Keith

Have one for my C8.3. Just changed oil for first time with it installed. Happy camper.

T203 is what I ordered, got tight pretty quick, stopped cause I didn't want to booger anything up. Pulled it out and looked at the threads, me and a buddy helping both thought the threads were different

Keith you should be able to align the threads from your plug with your valve and see how they.  If the threads line up you should be good to go.  Also, if you have a micrometer or dial caliper you can compare the diameter of the valve to your plug.

Keith,
Just checked the Fumoto site and T203 is the correct valve.  It should be a metric thread M27.  Check the diameter.  Those valves are made through a production process and someone could have made it oversize and it slipped through the process without being rejected.

FYI, We prefer the lower profile of the Compact Femco (NoSpills) design over the Fumoto.

Have been using our Femco Compact for many years.

Any drainer is even more important for M11 with their aluminum pan threads and steel drain plug which will eventually strip out.

You could actually change the valve between oil changes, without losing any oil, if you want to go ahead with your exchange now.

I have the  Detroit Diesel 6V92 and would like to convert to an easy drain plug. Been looking but see different thread sizes. Any one know what I need as far as size and thread angle?

Here is the one I installed on our 6V-92TA: T-202: 1/2-14 NPT FUMOTO ENGINE OIL DRAIN VALVE You don't have to wait for an oil change, just use your vacuum cleaner on the oil fill with duct tape. You will not spill a drop and no oil will get into the vacuum cleaner. Just take the plug out and screw in the quick drain. You don't even have to hurry. This way, you can drain into a gallon container and stop the flow, change containers, etc all without spilling a drop.

That said, I think I will replace it with a flush Femco as there is a chance of the plug being sheered off. We take our coach down some rough roads and worry a little.

Use a sharp punch to puncture the filter and you won't make a mess trying to put a bag around it, etc. See photos below with the old filter in the drain pan.

Larry, I have the same thoughts too. Having had one for a few years it is the single most missed part of us selling the house. That was my big "man cave" for sure. The only thing that eases that pain is the large investment of money from that sale deposited into our previous average retirement portfolio. Paying those shop hours sometimes needed to do the jobs I used to be able to do with the pit, now mean not much.

Thanks, Larry. Like the "man cave" John. It took forever with just two of us. Big cement truck for the slab but gasoline mixer for filling the blocks and floor. To answer PMs, it's 40 inches wide, 67 inches high and 35 feet long. Must have used a mile of steel and lots of sealer and epoxy paint. Air, water and 110/220V inside with a drain/vent at one end. Angle iron at the top so a cover can be fitted and a steel slide for a jack/etc to move on. 25x50 foot slab is 4 inches thick. No cracks in quite a few years.

Now if I could only finish the building.  :D

You might think that until you met me. ADHD poster child with a thousand projects in the fire and lucky to finish one. The pit was one of my only and best that I've finished lately. Good thing my better half (much better) is so understanding. Her fellow teachers said, "You know, your husband is...."

It was a super lot of work and my body, especially my back, will never be the same.

We had a couple of guests over in the daytime. I never thought to put a cover over any of it as it's not that close to the house but they drove the front right of their car into it. Looked like a duck feeding at a pond. Just like one of those Russian car accident YouTube videos.

I only wish I could grow up. ;)
