Awning slide bar

Do I raise the awning arm on the slide bar before extending the awning? Appears to be the only way to do it, problem is the slide bars do not slide easily even with a good cleaning and a spray of silicone? I have to pull on the arm to take the weight off the slide bar and it's still sticking.
Any suggestions?

David,
Raise the awning then raise the arm up the slide bar. There should be a Teflon strip inside the fitting on the arm/ slide bar joint. Check with Zip Dee.

Teflon strips may be bad or gone, it grinds!
Will call them when they open
