Remove 1996 delta kitchenhen faucet

Hi again all,
My turn to remove original white delta single handle kitchen faucet.
Yes. Dont want to remove below shelf,because p trap plumbing.
Is that a nut on the Foretravel u shaped bracket to hold brass faucet mount? Or is it brazed to u bracket permanently?
I dont have correct deep well socket, and crows foot not working.  Time for my dremel?

Many plumbing and even box stores have cheap nylon deep, deep extensions if there is a nut on it.

Just did the same, on my 96 295. Based on appearance I was dreading it, but it was quite easy.  I believe it was an 18mm socket that fit ran the nut off and the rusty hunk of junk backing plate fell off, faucet lifted off. 

Not owning a dremel I had my sawzall at the ready to cut it off topside, glad it wasn't necessary.

It is a nut and most likely rusted on there some.  I believe it is either a 7/16 or 1/2 inch and you will need a deep socket with long extension.  Laying on your back with head looking up, it is doable.  I have remove hundreds in my past adventures.  Most likely if frozen you will break the stud the nut is holding.  No problem, just wear eye protection!

You might try this from Home Depot. $20 bucks, it fits a ton of different faucets. Worked great on my 2001.

I bought a couple of different "helpers" to try to get my old faucet out. None of them worked. Finally called a mobile mechanic. Three guys showed up. They finally did some surgery to get the old faucet out. First they cut the plastic vent pipe so they could get the shelf out. Then they took the Sawz-All up to the top of the counter and cut the old faucet off. The rubber gasket under the faucet saved the countertop. The right side came loose easily enough, but the left side wouldn't budge, hence the saw.

A piece of rubber and two hose clamps put the vent back, and it is now easily removable should it ever me necessary to do so.

Thanks for replies. Wow different plans of attack. I posted title incorrect.  Its actually a white Delta faucet,  but bathroom is all moen. Go figure?
Will report back. Was also incorrect,  the u shaped bracket is delta part. And Not Foretravel build.. thanks again. Ah yes, another 30 min plumbing fix.  NOT

Yes, same faucet, white Delta pull out style in galley.  It turned out that either the threaded stem or nut was brass and once the nut was loosened it came off readily.  I had removed the shelf below, though, which helped.  A dishwasher will soon occupy the under sink space. 

I will look at old faucet tomorrow and  if nut is still around,  will verify socket size.

17 mm standard deep well socket will easily remove the thin brass retaining nut off the brass stem.

FYI use a 6 point socket as 12 point may strip corners off nut, I did manage to get mine off with a plumbing wrench

Success,  thanks to all, especially Chuck Pearson who verified what my delta series original series 462 needed. Brass nut Was 17mm . Purchased a 3/8 drive 6 point for $4. Chuck I owe you guinness. My dremel cut off wheel will fight on another day. Lol
I chose the moen kaden model 87966. Home Despot used to stock.  Got mine big box overstock.Com .
