Crack in gray water tank.

I have an oldie but a goody. 1989 Grand Villa 300T Cat. Runs good. Everything works pretty well. It has developed a fine line crack that is accessible about two inches long. The water comes out in a steady small stream. The crack is pretty straight. The crack is near the flush valve. It was winterized and extra anti-freeze poured down the toilet and gray water tanks. I'm thinking just old age. Does anyone know the material this tank is made of? ABS? Polyethylene? It looks like some kind of high density black plastic. I would like to attempt a repair. I doubt I could find a replacement. Thanxs.

I have had success patching those with a Weller soldering gun that has a flat tip and use a black ty wrap as filler material. Find something to practice on first to get the feeling of how this works. My friend's tongue pull grey water tank has a couple of places patched from road trash with this method.

Mike has a good fix. I've used it on bumpers before. I've also had success with JB Weld. It fixes almost anything. On a SOB with a big crack including a corner of a black water tank, I painted two part epoxy resin on, covered with several layers of fiberglass cloth with more resin added between layers so the glass had a slightly wet look. I gave it a couple of days and it never leaked again. On all repairs, I roughed up the plastic with wet or dry before the epoxy.

I have used this to attach threaded valves to RV tanks before and it's amazing stuff. I'd probably cut a "bandaid" out of plastic and slap it on with some of this: 3M High Performance Industrial Plastic Adhesive 4693H, Light Amber, 5 oz...

That said, if you have the Oshkosh chassis in that thing, the tank is super accessible and I'd try to replace it first. I'd rather deal with it at home when I have time than when I need it on the road

Had a tank 15 years ago and found a plastic factory that welded tanks, they did it and it was perfect for as long as I owned that rig.
Google plastic welding, there are a bunch of places, just depends where you are.
