Problems with my park brake chamber on 1990 grand villa
Hya all, hope everyone is safe from the virus, I've been isolating in the villa now for over a month, it's giving me chance to work on it everyday, I'm really getting somewhere now, just finished the front sway bars, new bushes and d bushings, tomorrow will do the rear, however I noticed earlier that my parking brake chamber isn't working, I bought a new haldex chamber from anything truck. Com, I fitted it and it worked, anyway today I started the engine flicked the cab switch to release the parking brake, which it did release, but for some reason when I flicked the switch back to set, the parking brake chamber didn't appear to operate and the parking did not come on, I'm sure it is something simple, I have strange feeling that when I renewed most of the transmission hoses I may have connected two of the switch pipes, the wrong way round, there are 3, but I know that one of them going to the hydraulic relay valve is definitely correct, so is it possible that it could do this if the pipes are connected wrong, I honestly thought I had connected them correctly, because it seemed to work the first time I started engine after fitting new chamber, I haven't started engine for at lest 5 days and the parking brake ws definitely set because I couldnt turn the rear hub at all was very tight, and they released once I started engine and flicked the cab switch to release, the only thing I didn't check was if the parking brake released as soon as I started engine before I flicked the switch, by tomorrow after the engine hasn't been running the pressure should have released anyway I would have thought, and the spring should be retracted and parking brake should be set, but I know it should set instantly as soon as switch is put into set position because it should immediately release all pressure, its a teething problem I know, but would appreciate any info on this please, what is the best way to check the system out, the chamber itself is brand new and no leaks and appears to be working, so Im thinking there is 3 possibilities, first thing I will do is swap the two suspect switch pipes around, if that doesn't solve the problem, then I'm not quite sure how to test if it's the cab switch itself or hydraulic relay valve not working as it should, anyone had a similar problem? Thanks kev
