Magnum Alert

I was working on the coach today. It is in a barn, plugged into standard 110 v service, in order to keep the batteries charged up.  I had nothing " plugged in", other than a LED trouble light. While working inside with the light, I heard a strange noise coming from " below". I looked at the Magnum display and it said " FET Overload, with red and green lights. I got the Magnum book out and it referenced a fault with the inverter, mentioning that I had to identify the fault and reset the inverter. I don't know how to do this. I will return to the coach, and pursue the reset issue. I was hoping someone out there could help me short circuit the self education, and get me to the proper course of action a little quicker.  It's always " somethin'".........

When something tells me to reset a device, I usually just turn it off and back on...

If that doesn't work, I get out the book.

What model inverter do you have?

Didn't Don's Magnum Hybrid have an FET Overload and burn or smoke? I have a 1000 watt Magnum PSW inverter that for some of them has been the subject of a recall due to "Thermal Events" (can you say fires?).

Shut the thing down until you know what is going on.

A search shows that it is a field effect transistor over temperature. After it cools down a manual restart is required.

OK - new plan.  Just turn it off.  Then wait for Don to comment.

Here is a screenshot of the page from the manual for ours, which is an MSH-3012M. It is almost the same as the MS-2812 so the instructions likely apply.

If you go to the remote display and push the "Tech" button on the far right, you can cycle through various options by rotating the dial. Option number four on ours is "Fault History". Pushing the knob in will bring up a list that you can scroll through. Take a look and see what you have there. The first option in the tech menu is current temperatures of the various parts.

First of all,what Magnum is it?I would call them and go from there.
