Interesting.  I wonder what was the point of removing the striker bolt during the procedure?

Richard,

It is screwed into the mechanism through the side.  Your mechanism is hid behind the wooden grab handle.  Said another way the striker is installed at a 90* angle to the mechanism. There written description/instructions shows this better than this video. If you look close you can see where the striker is threaded into the steel plate on the mechanism.

I believe the reason Richard was questioning the striker bolt is the title is dead bolt adjustment not striker bolt.
