Dash Cover

Does anybody have a recommendation on where to purchase a dash cover for my 2007 Nimbus.

Thanks

trina in the upholstery shop at Motorhomes of Texas is very good at dash covers - they likely have a nimbus they can use as a pattern and ship to you if you are not near them - just need to figure out what you want it made ot of - Trina can help there too I am sure

Trina does great work, but if too busy, take a look at RV Awning Shades & Accessories Online | Shade Pro as they not only make windshield covers, but dash covers as well and fast shipping.

Trina made ours for us when we were there at MOT.  We called ahead and asked her to set aside some time for us. We chose a short, fine plush light gray carpet.  She made a template to fit our coach exactly even though she had made them for our year and model before. She added a soft padded backing and bound the edges with a matching color.  It fits perfectly. Stays in place, things on the dash don't move. Cutouts for the defrost vents allow them to work.  You can choose any material she has or go to the local carpet shop for anything else.  Perfect!

I remember years ago reading a post by Michelle, who made a really nice dash cover from material purchased at a local Lowe's or Home Depot.  I can't search right now, but you may want to take a look.

Given the low cost, it's definitely a great way to go if you're handy with paper, tape, and scissors  :)

If you wanted to dress it up and have access to a sewing machine, just a simple quilt binding or seam binding could be used to wrap the edges.

Had one made at FOT a couple of years ago.  225 or so and nicely made.  We have used MOT and Trina for our couches and were very happy with the results.  Well run shop.

I went to Walmart and found some chiffon-y fabric in their discount remnant bin for about $2.50. It was very wide, so I cut it lengthwise and stitched the ends together. It was a darkish swirly print, so did not reflect glare on the inside windshield. I would tastefully and artfully arrange it on the dash, held in place with some very nice river rocks picked up in Montana.  It would easily maneuver around the laptop on the dash displaying our Silverleaf info, the AC vents and dried very quickly if there was condensation.

Cheap, fast, easy to clean. Protected the dash from the UV damage.

Recovered the dash in 1994 Grandvilla

We have 94 Grandvilla. Recovered the dash last year. Found a good vinyl on Charolets Fabric web site, that matched out chairs. Removed the hinged part of the dash. The dash next to the windshield, with defrost vents wound not come out. Scraped off the covering and insulation foam and made a template starting with heavy foil, cut cardboard to make a pattern. Cut out 1/8 inch plywood and glued on dense carpet foam. The defroster vents were a challenge. The metal frames around the defrost vents are fastened and not easily removed without tearing things up. Cut out slots in the plywood to fit the vents and wrapped the vinyl and stapled. Set the apolstered piece over the vents. The padding was ok on the hinged part of the dash. Removed the cover and used old leather as a pattern to make a new cover for the cockpit area. Took a couple of tries, but got the pieces sewn with my singer sewing machine . I stretched the vinyl and  stapled. Looks pretty good. Took a lot of time and patience.

We just made a cover for our dash following Michelle's instructions from an older post (Foss indoor/outdoor carpet, Home Depot carries 6' by 8' pieces in tan and in grey.) The carpet will have to have a join which we did with carpet tape in front on the drivers side where it is invisible. So easy to cut with a good scissors and an X-acto knife, the tan color is a really nice contrast to the all beige factory dash.
Total cost $20 - thanks Michelle
