Out with the old nasty and in with the new....

Vinyl that is. Started this project last year with the door and the access hatch to the breakers and wires. Since I am working on the overhead, I might as well recover the sun visor, right?
Well, of course it's not that simple. Had to remove the 2 side areas, which opened up a can of worms with some rust, but is another post in the future.  But to get off the visor, the door surround also had to come off. Then once the visor was out, I see the top area where the speakers are.... ah more.
So as a side note... work ethic and use of time.
What should take 10-30 minutes to do, seems to take 2 hours or a day for me. Need that razor knife. I know where it is, I was just using it yesterday. Oh, wait, its not where I thought it was. So it will be in the other tool box right? No. It's not. And I can't find it anywhere. So after looking around  for a hour, decided I really don't need it, go on with my project. After 1000 staples pulled that's it for the day.
Next day go to start stapling. Drop the staple gun cause my arthritic hands hurt now from all that staple removing the night before.
Broke off the end of the air hose. Got to go to home depot to get some new pieces, cause I can't remember where I put the old stuff I had.  After another hour wasted, back to work.
Today, cold from came in just as I was finishing the door piece. Raining now, time for a break.
Anyone else have these issues or is it just me..... and I know it can't just be me.  :D
So back to work. The ultra leather was  bought many years ago to redo a sailboat that never got it, so it's being put to good use. At $90 bucks a yard, its pretty nice stuff, but then I didn't pay anywhere near that much. Those were the days when Ebay was a great place to shop. Now, not so much.
Anyway the old vinyl was so nasty, my fingers stuck to it. Tried cleaning it with many things, but no go. So this will be nice. I plan to do the entire dash but might not have enough.
First pic is the back of the vinyl vs the ultraleather. The vinyl has a thicker backing and a thicker overall feel.  2nd, tools of the trade, or at least what i'm using. 3rd, completed shade and sides. Door to follow.

You describe my work process to a T. I usually estimate time and cost. Then the doing takes three times as long and twice the cost.
Fun though.

Why yes it is. Fun that is.
Old saying about nothing absolutely nothing better to do than messing about in boats or something like that by Kenneth grahame anyway, that could be said about our coaches as well.
