In for service. Now won't start.

Changed both fuel filters they say both filters full but won't stay running.
In restless dreams I walked alone.

If equipped with a hand primer pump, pump it up firm.. If it dies at idle pump up until firm again. I have to do that twice on my 8.3. If still an issue you may need to crack open injector line to bleed but I've not had to on my 8.3 Cummins.

A bad seal or failure to remove the old seal resulting in two seals on a filter will cause an AIR LEAK and your symptoms.

Or, they could have disturbed something else while changing the filters.

A bad seal or failure to remove the old seal resulting in two seals on a filter will cause an AIR LEAK and your symptoms.

Or, they could have disturbed something else while changing the filters.

Did you pre fill the fuel filters? 6v92 has a bleeder on top of the rightrear filter near the water separater.

Don't wear out your starter!
This was covered. Have a look...
"For fuel filter replacement in a U225 or U240, the Foretravel manual (Rev 10-91, Section 3) says to pre-fill the filters.
*If you run out of fuel, the system needs to be primed and bled through a 8mm hex bleed screw above the secondary fuel filter -- after pre-filling the fuel filters -- and operate the lift pump plunger until the fuel is free of air AND THEN loosen all 6 injector lines and crank the engine for 30 seconds. If it "clacks" or runs rough, each injector nut must be loosened one at a time with with the engine running, until air is expelled.
It goes on to say "NEVER OPERATE THE STARTER FOR LONGER THAN 30 SECONDS" and allow 2-5 minutes between starter activations.
I have heard that removing a fuel filter and not replacing it with a pre-filled filter immediately can cause air to get in the lines and could require priming and bleeding. I sure hope that isn't the case in my current situation.

That advice does NOT apply to the U240 which has a Caterpillar manual primer pump on the Caterpillar (ya, the yellow one) primary fuel filter.

On the U240, install both filters DRY.  Unlock the manual primer pump (turn knurl handle counter clockwise.  Pump until it goes from easy to HARD.  Easy is air which is compressible.  In one or two strokes it becomes very heard to pump (liquids are not compressible).

Lock the manual primer pump (push it in and turn it clockwise to lock it).

Start the engine and drive off.

NO, this has nothing to do with the U225 which has a different brand engine (Cummins B vs Caterpillar 3116), but don't want incorrect info out there.

Apparently the info For fuel filter replacement in a U225 or U240, the Foretravel manual (Rev 10-91, Section 3) is incorrect but Moby has a U225...

Anytime you try to start a diesel (unless a VW diesel) without having fuel in the filters, you are asking for a problem. Just tighten the primary but leave the secondary loose enough that using a hand or electric primer, you get all fuel and not bubbles between the filter gasket and the mount. About one turn loose will do it. So you don't make a mess, you can put a gallon freezer bag around the filter as you prime the system so it catches diesel and you don't make a mess.

It does not make any difference what the mechanics say about diesel being at the engine. If the injection pump has air in it, you may have to loosen one injector pipe at the injector before you turn it over.  Watch while someone turns the starter and stop when fuel comes out or it starts on five. Do NOT overtighten the injector tube nut.

Best to install a manual priming pump or an electric pump like Tom Hall did. This works on Cummins as well as Detroits. I like his quote, "I received an over overwhelming response to my posting on the Bulletin Boards and Email group concerning this topic. Seems there are two scenarios on this for everyone. Those who have run out of fuel and had to deal with recharging their engines and those who have yet to enjoy the experience."

Heed the advice above about not using the starter too long. No need to compound the problem with an expensive mistake.

Made it home.
Techs say the bled the system by the secondary filter and I saw them fill at least the primary.
When he was filling the primary he noticed the gasket (O ring) was crimped.
 Injectors got air bound, and with the new gasket bleeding the Injectors subsequently provided the needed, heart warming rumble.
 Was promised, on leaving, an extra 10MPG!
