Curious-- are you replacing because they are worn (have play) or just because the boots are bad?

If the latter, they will go many many thousands of miles-- just grease more frequently.

DO replace if any play.

My coach has 134,000 miles on them and now that I have them off they just feel a little sloppy I can't say that they actually have any movement in them but when you put the studs straight up you can just touch it and she'll flop to the other side I really am a custom to seeing them have a little bit more preload on them . Since I'm changing my Steering box I was going to replace with new and hopefully go for another 130 4000 miles

Easy test is to be under there where you can see/feel them and have someone turn the steering wheel left/right/left right.  Engine off is fine.

You would see/feel any play that is of import.

On my 96 the steering rod ends and the tie rod ends were not the same parts, if you have them off already I would go ahead and change them, half the work is done.

John,

They should be different. Here is a link to another thread that should have the proper part numbers.  Be sure to double check before you buy.  FRONT END SERVICE FOR STEERING LINKAGE IN MICHIGAN

FYI just the boot LC24VC0109

When I've found torn boots While greasing I've always replaced the boots at the earliest opportunity.  I guess I could have greased more frequently but I worry about incurring accelerated wear.

That is the best answer if you can find the boots and have the tools to separate them from pitman arm/knuckle.

But, with grease, you would  be surprised how long they can go before developing play.
