12 volt Refrigerator installed

Three months ago our residental fridge quit and of course it was at the Q in January, went to town and found a found a 12 vdc 10.7 cubic two door. With the help of the crew at the desert gathering got installed and working.
It is made by a company named Way Interglobal Network it's called Ever Chill .the first one we installed was a scratch and dent it worked great for a month and started acting up. I was back in Apache junction AZ and called the company they had me send pictures to the tech and he told me it was toast . Long story short within a week they sent me a new second generation unit.
Installed it and could not be happier with the unit and the company.

According to the guy who two years to develop the second gen they only draws 1.6 amps at start up. With my solar it works great.

I have a marine 12v/120v unit. Has a separate danforth compressor. Works good and is big enough for us. 2 point owners ago put it in. Paul Smith. There's a thread on it when he installed it. Pricey unit made in Seattle.

Andy, get a power monitor for 12v DC that measures and saves power use over time. What is good to know is watts per day or week or month. Or AmpHrs over some longer time frame. Something like this...

That is going to give you a better idea of how much power the refrigerator uses over time. It would be useful to compare real world experience with other measured results.

1.6 amps at 12.5 volts is only 20 watts. Our Samsung residential refrigerator averages about 70 watts per hour measured over months. Peaks are around 145 watts. Probably higher on a warm startup. The 12v and 120v cooling replacements by JC Refrigeration for Dometic LP refrigerators use almost as much. It takes about the same amount of energy to cool no matter what you use.
