Andy, get a power monitor for 12v DC that measures and saves power use over time. What is good to know is watts per day or week or month. Or AmpHrs over some longer time frame. Something like this...

That is going to give you a better idea of how much power the refrigerator uses over time. It would be useful to compare real world experience with other measured results.
1.6 amps at 12.5 volts is only 20 watts. Our Samsung residential refrigerator averages about 70 watts per hour measured over months. Peaks are around 145 watts. Probably higher on a warm startup. The 12v and 120v cooling replacements by JC Refrigeration for Dometic LP refrigerators use almost as much. It takes about the same amount of energy to cool no matter what you use.
